1600m – Turf
Sir Busker | Consistent type and won this month over 1605m on all-weather. On career high handicap mark but has a chance.
Home Before Dusk | All 6 wins on all-weather and having first run at Ascot. Ran 19 times last year and kept improving. Probably needs to improve again.
Universal Gleam | Never won at this level and not well handicapped so needs a burst of improvement.
Brian Epstein | In good form last year and after year’s break finished fine 2nd over 1593m at Haydock. A definite chance.
Plantadream | Ran away with Class 4 handicap over 1601m on all-weather 11 days ago. Hit hard by the handicapper but possible that still competitive.
So Beloved | This 10-year-old has not won for over four years. Creditable 9th of 28 in last year’s race but reaching a place would be a major shock.
Zhui Feng | Run some of best races at Ascot and won this race in 2017. Not as good nowadays and well behind last year. Needs to find old form.
Dean Street Doll | Some fair form in Ireland last year but became disappointing. Well beaten in Listed race at Kempton on first run for David Menuisier this month. A stiff task.
Brains | Cheap buy but done well, winning five times on all-weather. Looks badly handicapped now and well beaten on return eight days ago.
Red Bond | Hit hard by handicapper after easy victory on all-weather in January but ran creditably off new mark 11 days ago. An outside chance.
Smile A Mile | Kept busy, in fair form earlier this year. First appearance at Ascot and not dismissed.
Hortzadar | Four time winner with plenty of respectable runs to his name but not run since November and not attractively handicapped. A tough task.
Nicklaus | Improved a lot in 2018 and some good placed efforts last year but not run since September and not appealingly handicapped.
Salayel | Ran well in Dubai and solid efforts after joining Roger Varian. Not run since September but could improve. Interesting.
Ouzo | Progressive last year and highly promising 2nd over 1600m at Newmarket 10 days ago. An obvious chance.
Almufti | Possibly best on all-weather. Run creditably since stepped up to 1600m without suggesting he will be good enough for this.
Maydanny | After year off, won impressively over 1603m this month. May well overcome raised handicap mark.
Alternative Fact | Solid performer, often raced over further but needs to improve.
Sucellus | Bought cheaply after leaving John Gosden and well beaten this month on debut for new yard. A lot to prove.
Ambassadorial | Better on all-weather but encouraging 2nd on return at Newmarket this month and a live outsider.
Asdaa | Did well over winter after joining Mark Johnston but ran disappointingly four days ago and needs better.
Presidential | Most racing and all wins over shorter distances, including over 1405m four days ago. The longer trip unlikely to suit.
Goring | 8-year-old been a good servant but age against him and this probably too competitive for him.
Model Guest | A maiden after 14 races. Distant last on recent reappearance and out of her depth.
