| 1 | Addeybb | Improved last year and finished 2nd to Magical in G1 Champion Stakes. This year won two G1s in Australia but best on soft ground. |
| 2 | Bangkok | Well beaten 2nd to Japan in 2019 King Edward VII Stakes. 3rd in G3 Winter Derby in February and not good enough on form so far. |
| 3 | Barney Roy | Won G1 St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2017 and a G1 at Meydan this year. Respected but faces improving opponents. |
| 4 | Headman | Lightly raced and won two G2 races last year but needs to improve again to win this. |
| 5 | Japan | Top class. Won two G1 races last year, also taking the G2 King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot. Further than 2000m perhaps ideal but excellent chance. |
| 6 | Lord North | Won 2019 Cambridgeshire Handicap and won G3 on recent return but needs to improve again – a big task. |
| 7 | Mehdaayih | Decent record but well beaten by Magical in G1 Champion Stakes on latest run in October. Probably not good enough. |
