1600m – Turf
1 | Dark Vision | Won first three races as 2YO including G2 at Goodwood. Not progressed this season, albeit running respectably. Recently 4th in Listed race at Sandown last month. Needs to pick up progress again. |
2 | Motafaawit | Improving and versatile regarding going, won decent handicap over 1400m at Ascot latest. Up 6lb and in five runs never been in field with more than seven runners. |
3 | Turgenev | Excellent close 3rd to Cape Of Good Hope and Cap Francais in Listed race at Epsom over 2015m then fair 5th in G2 Dante at York over 2051m. May be well handicapped. |
4 | Beatboxer | Returned to form after wind surgery and application of headgear when winning competitive handicap over 1634m at Haydock. Up 7lb but more progress likely for trainer who has won race four times. |
5 | Beat Le Bon | Seemed not to stay this far as 2YO. Has since raced over 1200m and 1400m, improving to win competitive handicap at Goodwood latest. Up 7lb and tough task. |
6 | Dunkirk Harbour | Won maiden race on fifth attempt before promising effort when 4th of six in G3 at Leopardstown on very unfavourable terms. That puts him in the mix. |
7 | Dunkerron | Some good form last year, running well in two G2 races. Less good this year; well beaten in both runs and now an unlikely winner. |
8 | Pogo | Solid and steadily improving performer who has run respectably in Listed, G3 and G2 company (7th in German 2000 Guineas) and won both handicaps he has contested. A live chance. |
9 | Certain Lad | Won three times last year, including Listed race in France but well beaten all three runs this season, making handicap mark look uninviting. |
10 | Dubai Legacy | Won three of five races and will probably cope with step up to 1600m but not progressive or obviously well handicapped. |
11 | Numerian | All six runs on all-weather track at Dundalk, where won two. Neither form nor handicap mark obviously appealing. |
12 | Fanaar | Won Listed race at Lingfield in March but easily held in two starts since and looks poorly handicapped now. |
13 | Eclipse Storm | Improving 3YO ran best race yet when 2nd in Listed event at The Curragh last month over 1400m. Will appreciate the step up in trip. An interesting candidate. |
14 | Glorious Lover | Runner-up in Listed race at Ascot over 1400m last year but disappointing in latest outing when last of 5 in Listed race at Newmarket. Cannot support on that evidence. |
15 | Hot Team | Finished last season with a flourish, 3rd in valuable Sales race at The Curragh then victory in a Listed race in France but well beaten in G3 in Germany and handicap at Chelmsford. Unlikely winner. |
16 | Masaru | Improving nicely with first two successes this season but went into reverse when behind host of today’s rivals in handicap at Haydock won by Beatboxer last month. |
17 | Velorum | Won on both appearances this year both over 1600m. First pleasingly in novice race at Newmarket then easy task at long odds-on. Promises to make his mark but not alone in that. |
18 | Hero Hero | Nicely bred. Followed up promising runs when running away with novice race over 1500m at Chester. Could have potential to prove better than handicap mark of 95. |
19 | Dark Jedi | Promising start last year but well beaten in two Listed races this year. Unappealing. |
20 | Awe | Seven of today’s rivals in front of him when favourite for handicap at Haydock last month but has since won good handicap at Newmarket to keep hopes alive. |
21 | King Ademar | 320,000 Euros two-year-old. Runner-up three times, latest encouraging run off a handicap mark of 87 and should be comfortable with subsequent rise to 93. One of many with a chance. |
22 | Tulfarris | Interesting runner. Moderate in France where won once from six tries but improved in two runs for Charlie Fellowes. Not obviously well handicapped but may be more improvement and has a chance. |
23 | Biometric | Won twice over 1400m and did well when 2nd under big weight to promising rival over inadequate 1200m. Looks well handicapped and a live chance if stays the trip. |
24 | Aweedram | Improved to win handicaps at Newmarket and Ascot, both over 1600m before finished behind four of today’s rivals at Haydock. Needs to improve again. |
25 | Victory Command | Run 16 times already, all four wins last year, including Listed race over 1400m at Ascot. Generally disappointing since and needs a renaissance. |
26 | Athmad | Won on debut last year but well beaten in all races since and would be a shock winner. |
27 | Sameem | Steady improvement and two wins but progress stalled this year and looks poorly handicapped. |
28 | Finoah | Heavily raced as 2YO when won novice race at Redcar. No progress this year until stepped up to 1434m on heavy ground and won well at Haydock. Up 6lb and unlikely to follow up. |
29 | Mordred | Won novice race at Chester last season but disappointing and well beaten both runs this year. No hope. |
30 | Davydenko | Won two Class 5 events at Windsor and Thirsk, latterly long odds-on. Trainer Sir Michael Stoute an expert at bringing such horses on patiently. Bound to improve and could be well handicapped. |

31 | Migration | Running well this season and good effort to win decent handicap at Newmarket over 1600m. Improving and a live outsider. Probably best on fast ground. |
32 | Barristan The Bold | Heavily raced at two and well held in two handicaps this year, including when 5th at Haydock behind four of today’s rivals off the same handicap mark as today. Unappealing. |
33 | Allmankind | Won maiden race over 2000m at Chelmsford last year but too keen and finished last on only run this year, in Listed race at Chester over 2064m. An act of faith required. |
