Listed – 1400m – Turf

Ardenlee Star Cheap 13,000 Euros yearling. Won maiden at Thirsk 11 days ago over 1200m. Should appreciate longer trip but needs to improve.
Clay Regazzoni Runner-up to Lord Of The Lodge (well beaten in G2 Coventry Stakes on Tuesday) then 2nd again, to a newcomer, at Thirsk. Should appreciate step up in trip but may not be good enough.
Dark Kris 200,000 guineas 2YO. Runner-up six lengths behind Guildsman (3rd in G2 Coventry Stakes) on second outing, at Goodwood. Will probably prefer this longer trip and shown he acts on soft ground. One of better outsiders.
Dramatic Sands Second in novice race at Yarmouth in May, form which needs a lot of building on.
Harpocrates Twice well beaten by high class Siskin over 1200m, latterly in Listed race at The Curragh. Bred to need further and should improve for step up to 1400m. A live chance.
Heaven Forfend Promising 2nd to Light Angel (well beaten in Tuesday’s G2 Coventry Stakes) in maiden over 1200m at Newbury last month. Should improve and be a strong contender.
Highland Chief An interesting runner. Trainer Paul Cole has won race four times. Not bred for sprinting and did well to win maiden over 1031m at Newbury on soft going in April. Not run since but a serious contender at this trip.
Joker On Jack US challenger won over 900m on dirt at Keeneland then faded into 7th over 1200m in smart conditions race at Newbury (United Front 4th). Neither step up in trip nor give in ground are likely to suit.
Lope Y Fernandez Quickened up sharply when winning maiden race impressively at The Curragh two weeks ago, showing he acts well with give in the ground. A big chance.
Mohican Heights Won nicely on debut at Leopardstown last month but this is a big step up.
Montanari Unraced and a hard race for a debutant.
Pinatubo Has won both starts for Godolphin, latest the Woodcote Stakes at Epsom over 1203m. After stuttering start, travelled strongly and picked off leader nicely. Will appreciate longer trip and Ascot’s stiffer track. Good chance.
Sun Power Won novice race at Wolverhampton nicely on second outing and step up in trip should help but others better qualified.
United Front Respectable 4th on both starts behind good horses. At Newbury winner was Temple Of Heaven, well beaten when joint-favourite for Windsor Castle Stakes on Wednesday, runner-up Fort Myers 4th in G2 Coventry Stakes. At Navan behind Royal Lytham, decent 7th in Coventry. Live outsider.
Year Of The Tiger Runner-up to Lil Grey at The Curragh two weeks ago. Promising and will improve but unlikely to match stablemate Lope Y Fernandez.
Rose Of Kildare Cost just 3,000 Euros as yearling. Won two minor races, best run latest when runner-up to Liberty Beach (4th in G2 Queen Mary Stakes on Wednesday) in conditions race at Beverley over 1000m. Should stay 1400m.
Zmile Should improve on promising debut 4th in novice at Haydock over 1393m but may not improve enough.
