Al Qareem

Very tough and this gelding appears to thrive on racing activity. Has won two handicaps in 2022 but did best last time when coming close to a G3 win at Newmarket, leading and fighting hard.

Cresta

Only win came on his debut but has continued to run well at a higher level since, including when fourth in a Royal Ascot G3 when the slow pace didn’t help. Needs to prove himself up in trip.

Grand Alliance

Always struggling in the Derby at Epsom in June but bounced back when only failing by a short-head to win a fast-ground G2 at Royal Ascot – remarkable as he did so much wrong in the race.

Hoo Ya Mal

Purchased for big money by Australian interests after his remarkable second at huge odds in the Derby at Epsom in June, the Melbourne Cup his main aim. Fascinating to see if he can make further progress in the UK.

Jack Darcy

Won on his debut last year and 300 days later returned to convincingly land a 2000m novices’ event at Newbury this month. Has done nothing wrong but now steps up sharply in grade.

Masekela

Like stablemate at the time Hoo Ya Mal he massively outran his odds when fourth in the Epsom Derby. But he raced far too keenly when disappointing at Newmarket last time.

New London

Only disappointment in his four-race career was when failing to handle the slow ground in a G3 at Chester. Convincing winner of a 2000m handicap last time, deserving another rise in class and trip.

Sussex

Little anxiety for his supporters when he led throughout to win at Navan this month. So far he has been quite well beaten when tackling group company.

West Wind Blows

His only defeat came in the Derby at Epsom and he was extremely impressive when leading from gate to wire in a Listed event at Hamilton this month. Fast ground appears ideal.
