1984m – Turf

1

Natural World

Didn’t run well on his previous Goodwood start but the soft ground may have been against him. Gelded since, then running a decent fourth at Newmarket. Fitted with a hood here.

2

Mr Professor

Steps up to this trip for the first time but his pedigree certainly provides hope. Finished ahead of this year’s Irish Derby winner Westover at Pontefract last October, but mixed messages this year.

3

Migdam

Has won three of his four starts, and looked well suited in the rise to this trip when winning at Doncaster last month, drawing clear at the finish. A 6lb rise might not stop him.

4

Warren Point

Won his first two starts – over this trip – in maiden and novice company. Ran out of gas when racing much too freely, second in a three-runner event at Ascot. But still a promising prospect.

5

Wanees

Responded to pressure, winning a Sandown handicap on his 2022 return. Then travelled strongly in a Royal Ascot handicap but lacked a late kick. Up to 2000m, not guaranteed to help.

6

Blue Trail

There may be a stamina issue as he didn’t make much of a splash when tried over it for the first time at Royal Ascot. His two wins (from six starts) came over 1600m on all-weather tracks.

7

Asgoodassobergets

Won over further at Wolverhampton on his 2022 return. Although having no chance with the winner he finished ahead of lots of much-more-fancied rivals when second at Royal Ascot.

8

Asaassi

Wind surgery has helped and he has won both starts this season – at Salisbury and York – proving himself on fast ground and over this trip. Will need to improve a bit more.

9

Schmilsson

Never a serious player at Newmarket last time, doing best this season when the runaway winner of a Bath maiden over this trip.

10

Whitefeathersfall

Always close to the speed he showed clear improvement from last season when beating some better fancied rivals at Carlisle this month. The stable have an excellent record in this handicap.

11

Court Of Session

Some hope according to pedigree that he will thrive over this longer trip. But, though he ran better on turf when second at Nottingham, his wins have come on an all-weather surface.

12

Vee Sight

Gelded over the winter plus moving up in trip he showed vast improvement, slowly away but surging from the back when an impressive fast-ground Sandown winner. Chance, though 8lb higher.

13

Royal Rift

Will need to prove he can handle this longer trip. But both runs this season solid, winning a Newmarket handicap and then second at Ascot, though only two lengths separating the first six.
