1000m – Turf

1

Navello

Has won five of his 20 starts – all at around this trip – but it is his first run at this track. His last win coming around the tight bends at Chester – a very different scenario.

2

Shamlaan

Bravely squeezed through a gap to win on his only previous start here. A five-time winner who is still decently handicapped. Perhaps Goodwood will again bring out his best.

3

Get Ahead

From a stable struggling to hit top form. Had a troubled passage when last seen at Ascot but would still need to improve to win this though has been eased 2lb in the weights.

4

Sophie’s Star

Can show blistering gate speed like when winning at 40-1 at Musselburgh last month on her first start for this trainer, who said that her failure to lead early was the problem at Chester last time.

5

Swayze

All starts have been at around this trip, though contrasting surfaces for his two wins – on fast and slow ground. In sharp form when winning his first handicap at Haydock this month.

6

Resilience

Gained his second turf victory when leading throughout to beat two rivals on fast ground over this trip at Windsor. Has switched trainers since that victory last month.  This looks tricky.

7

Sir Henry Cotton

In good form in sprint handicaps, winning at Windsor and Lingfield and just beaten at Haydock. Has run well on fast turf surface but looks best on slow ground.

8

Dusky Prince

Has gained three straight sprinting wins over a short space of time, latterly proving too fast for six rivals despite swerving badly right under pressure in a Doncaster sprint.

9

Silky Wilkie

A continued rising handicap mark but that is because of a succession of admirable sprinting performances, most recently a fine winning effort from the front at Hamilton.

10

Le Beau Garcon

Probably best to bring him back to this trip as he appeared to run out of gas late on over 1200m last time. Plenty went against him at Musselburgh previously but he still almost won.

11

Ballet Steps

Quickened clear of six rivals at Nottingham in April perhaps helped by the slow ground. However she has found things more difficult in two starts since, and ran badly last time.

12

Catch Cunningham

Just caught in a soft-ground handicap sprint on his 2022 return. But has failed to build on that in two starts since, suggesting that he has a difficult task here.

13

Clarence C

Drops back dramatically in trip compared to most of his starts. Well beaten at Newmarket last time, and he is most unlikely to be quick enough to make a serious impact.

14

Kape Moss

Down to 1000m for the first time and also running at this track for the first time, she missed the break but finished strongly to land a surprise victory. Faded at Newcastle last time.
