1000m – Turf

1

Stone Of Destiny

This speedster has only ever run once at Epsom, not doing particularly well that day. But ran one of his best races on his latest start when going close to winning a hot little Goodwood sprint.

2

Exalted Angel

Couldn’t handle heavy ground last time, beaten a long way. He doesn’t score often on a turf surface and this is his first run down over this downhill track. Not an obvious winner.

3

Ornate

Had a rewarding spell over this winter in sprints on all-weather tracks. But he’s a six-time turf winner including a terrific front-running victory in this in 2019. May try and dominate again.

4

Sunday Sovereign

Has had his problems with some lengthy gaps between races. However he has chances here if he can build on last month’s close second in a 1000m soft-ground York sprint.

5

Caspian Prince

The handicap mark of this extraordinary veteran sprinter is easing, and he can’t be ignored in a hugely competitive sprint that he has won three times. The quicker the ground the better.

6

Blue De Vega

Despite a difficult trip he was a strong-finishing fourth in this in 2018, finishing even closer in 2019 when third. This admirable sprinter has won five times since then and a gradually easing handicap mark gives him a chance.

7

Lord Riddiford

Interesting to see him back on turf after some fine all-weather sprinting performances including when outspeeding some talented speedsters in Listed company at Lingfield. He’s quick from the gates, often handy on this speed track.

8

Copper Knight

Had a dreadful passage in this ‘Dash’ in 2019. Considering he has a much more lenient handicap mark now he can be given a chance especially as he is in good heart, winning at York last month.

9

Only Spoofing

Formerly Irish-trained, and now Irish-trained again he comes here fresh off a victory over ten sprinters at Navan last month, a massive improvement on his three previous starts. Wants good or faster ground.

10

Mondammej

Showed some electric speed to mow down his opposition in a fast-ground handicap in April, also an unlucky third of 17 at York in May. Temperamental, but a talented speedster.

11

Recon Mission

Only 15th in this sprint run on fast ground, in 2019. However he proved his Epsom speed credentials in style when – always up with the speed, his preferred tactics – he won here in April. Wants good or slower ground.

12

Rose Hip

In a strongly-run race she responded to vigorous riding to win a handicap sprint at Windsor on Monday. Penalised 4lb for that but clearly in good form.

13

Han Solo Berger

Ran a good second on his only previous Epsom start though that was over 1200m and some concern that he won’t have enough pure speed for this. A close third at Ascot last time.

14

Yimou

A fast-ground specialist having his first start at Epsom on this 20th career run. Returning after 227 days he showed flair to finish third at Newmarket last month, especially good as most stablemates were below-par at the time.

15

Pettochside

A tough veteran who has won 18 of his 105 starts and finished second in this  back in 2018. Still very speedy, winning three of his last five starts. Handles quick ground but prefers it slower.

16

Get Boosting

In good shape on his penultimate start when a power-packed finish saw him win a handicap over this trip on slow ground. But he’ll need to show much more than he did last time.

17

Mokaatil

Only 14th in this ‘Dash’ in 2019 but wasn’t beaten far and is on an easier handicap mark now. Quite well beaten in his last four starts so not an obvious winner here.

18

Saaheq

His three turf wins came quite a long time ago but they were all at this trip on good or slower ground. A solid second at Ascot two starts ago, not so fast at Newmarket subsequently.

19

Son And Sannie

Has had a break since racing too enthusiastically when fourth of five at Doncaster. Not an obvious winner but his trainer has an excellent record in this.

20

Duke Of Firenze

Favourite when winning this famous sprint handicap way back in 2013, and has also twice finished third in it. Still very fast and his current handicap rating gives him a chance.
