G3 – 1703m – Turf

1

Bell Rock

Best on fast ground and with time between races. Came back from a break to win a high-class handicap at Newmarket on his 2021 return. Chances if he likes Epsom, this being his first try here.

2

Century Dream

The ratings give him a strong chance here even though he made a poor start to 2021 in a G1 at Newbury. On his only previous Epsom start he won this race authoritatively back in 2018. Best on slow ground.

3

Duke Of Hazzard

From a stable struggling for winners, and this guy faded on his only 2021 after racing too freely. A G3 and G2 winner at Goodwood in 2019, and horses who handle that track often thrive at Epsom.

4

Escobar

Has failed to win his last 14 starts but often competes in very tough events. Two starts back he proved he still had an engine when a fast-finishing third of 27 at Ascot. Can be slow at the gates.

5

Marie’s Diamond

Has run decently at this track before. Sweated and never happy at Ascot on his latest start but had shown what he is capable of on a good day when third in a G1 at Royal Ascot last year.

6

Oh This Is Us

Tough and popular, he was a fast-finishing third in this back in 2017, also running really well when runner-up in 2019. Again powerful at the finish when a shock winner at Ascot in April.

7

Prince Eiji

Has failed to win since his career debut but plenty of good runs in strong company including when just caught in an Ascot Listed race last time, probably in front too soon then after racing too freely.

8

Pholas

The trainer has had a remarkably successful start to his career. But her four wins have all been on an all-weather surface and in much lesser company than this.

9

Maximal

A three-year-old taking on older, more experienced rivals. But he’s done little wrong in 2021, a close runner-up at Newbury and Chester – both over longer trips. Needs a bit more improvement.
