2015m – Turf

1 King Zain William Buick partners him for the first time whilst he also moves up in trip as he tries to find improvement on two just fair runs this season. May need more leniency in the handicap.
2 King Frankel A progressive colt and sure to be well fancied here. The 2000m handicap he finished second at Newbury last time was run in a fast time and has historically produced high class performers.
3 Greatgadian Although he has failed to win either 2021 start when short in the betting, he has not done anything wrong and looked each time as though the experience was still needed.
4 Camelot Tales Still inexperienced and can race too freely but looked good over this trip when winning on his seasonal debut at Redcar. Back on turf after struggling on the all-weather last time.
5 Patient Dream Despite looking short of peak fitness and racing too keenly early on, he was still able to convincingly win a handicap here in April. Bred for this rise in distance, he looks a major player.
6 Freak Out Steps up in distance having twice finished second this season in handicaps – at Redcar and Newmarket – at around 1600m. That Newmarket form looked potentially strong, and no surprise if Freak Out runs really well here.
7 Chase The Dollar A very good looking colt but faded disappointingly when apparently well fancied to win on his 2021 debut. Did much better when only just failing to win an all-weather handicap last time. Racing over a similar trip again.
8 Zhang Fei Has already twice made the journey to Chantilly in an attempt to get a first win, but he has just lacked a finishing kick. Perhaps David Egan – riding him for the first time – will make a difference.
9 Solent Gateway Yet to win in nine starts but has gone close on a couple of occasions. Unless we see some sudden improvement he is not an obvious candidate for the winners’ enclosure here.
