The Extraordinary General Assembly organized online on Monday 15 June brought together the world’s Pari Mutuel/ Tote operators offering betting on horseracing events around the world.

20 operators representing all continents and a turnover of €20 billion have decided to join forces to advocate and promote:
–    A percentage of revenues going towards supporting beneficiaries, including the horseracing sector
–    The optimisation of technology and operations to ensure members can exchange best practice and develop mutually beneficial work streams collaboratively
–    Leading standards for social responsibility that make safer betting and protection of customers a priority
–    National and global pools utilising technology to ensure an engaging and positive customer experience

WoTA merges members of the European Pari Mutuel Association (EPMA) and the Asian African Tote Association (AATA). Both structures will transfer their knowledge, achievements, and legacy to the new Association.

Paul Cross, General Manager International at Tabcorp and Richard Cheung, Executive Director, Customer and International Business Development at The Hong Kong Jockey Club are co-chairing WoTA for the first two years. Hans Lord Skarploth, CEO of ATG will act as the Vice Chairman and Keith Johnson, President of AmTote of Stronach Group, as the treasurer.

“WoTA is an Association to promote interest for tote business in the whole world and push prosperity for the industry,” said Richard Cheung.

“We have created a body to represent tote operators globally and show people that the Association is not created to talk a lot but to do a lot,” said Paul Cross.

The newly elected Board will present its priorities on 15 July 2020.

The Headquarters are in Brussels: WoTA, Avenue des Arts 43 – 1040 Brussels, Belgium
