G2 – 1000m – Turf

A’Ali Promising when runner-up on debut two weeks ago at Ripon but needs a lot of rapid improvement to be competitive here.
Air Force Jet Two promising runs in Ireland, winning latest at start of month. Clearly well thought of but may need more time to fulfil potential.
Cool Sphere Runner-up to fellow debutant and Coventry Stakes contender Majestic Sands at Leicester. That form isn’t good enough.
Dubai Station Has potential, won novice race at Haydock on soft ground two weeks ago but this is asking a lot – probably too much.
Expressionist 300,000 guineas two-year-old knew his job on debut when quickened nicely to win novice race at Ascot over 1000m. Certain to improve and a decent chance.
Firepower Won novice race at Salisbury over 1000m then too keen in decent event at Newbury won by Temple Of Heaven. An unlikely winner.
King Neptune Following debut win was runner-up in two Listed races at The Curragh over 1000m then 1200m but beaten by good horses in Ickworth and Siskin. Dropped back to 1000m and a fair chance if improves.
Maven One of Wesley Ward’s USA team. Ward has won this race twice. Maven won maiden over 900m on dirt at Aqueduct in April. Trainer confident he will act on turf but has to prove it. Unlikely to want soft ground.
Misty Grey Bred to appreciate further and win came over 1200m at Ripon. Again showed speed when 3rd over same trip at Epsom last time. Despite that, drop back to 1000m raises doubts.
Mount Fuji Good looking grey very green when winning maiden race at Cork last month, getting several whip encouragements before finishing in style. Probably talented but may need more experience.
Real Appeal French trained 9,000 Euro foal won three of four in France, all narrowly, latest a Listed race at Maisons-Laffitte. Value of form uncertain and probably needs more in this company.
Strive For Glory Robert Cowell won this race three years ago and Strive For Glory a live outsider after finishing well to be 3rd behind Flippa The Strippa at Sandown after troubled run. Interesting.
Sunday Sovereign Bought by the powerful King Power Racing operation after dominating a big field at The Curragh last month, with subsequent G2 Coventry Stakes winner Arizona in 2nd. Sunday Sovereign then trounced his rivals at Tipperary and clocked a good time. A strong contender.
Ventura Rebel Went on from debut win at Thirsk to win conditions race at Ascot over 1000m in likeable style. Both runs on good to firm ground. A strong candidate for Richard Fahey’s northern stable.
Emten Bred for speed and won novice race at Windsor on debut in April. Not run since and all nine horses behind her at Windsor are still maidens. Very unlikely to feature.
