G2 – 1200m – Turf
| Arizona | Beaten by smart Sunday Sovereign on promising debut at the Curragh and very impressive winner over 1200m there next time. Big, rangy horse who will improve and like Ascot’s track. Trainer Aidan O’Brien has won this race eight times. |
| Coase | Won ordinary looking novice race on soft ground on debut at Carlisle. Will need a jolt of improvement. An unlikely winner. |
| Fort Myers | Stablemate of Arizona. Just beaten by Temple Of Heaven in what was probably a decent race at Newbury on second start. Will need to improve. |
| Golden Horde | Still green and tending to hang when ultimately winning convincingly at Windsor on second run. Value of form questionable and doubtful if will improve enough. |
| Guildsman | Looked well prepared for debut at Goodwood this month, travelled best and won with authority. Promises to be useful. |
| King Of Athens | Well beaten runner-up to stablemate Arizona at the Curragh on sole run so far. Very unlikely to turn the tables but likely to improve. |
| Kuwait Direction | Just beaten in novice stakes at Doncaster over 1301m this month but that form isn’t good enough. |
| Light Angel | Small horse representing last year’s winning stable of John Gosden. Should improve on last month’s success in maiden race at Newbury but will need to. |
| Lord Of The Lodge | Promising debut win in maiden race at Ayr last month but will need a lot more to figure in this hot contest. |
| Majestic Sands | Form of debut success in novice stakes at Leicester last month isn’t good enough. |
| Makyon | An interesting runner. After very promising debut at York, won weaker novice at Hamilton, looking as if improvement likely. |
| Maxi Boy | 380,000 guineas yearling. Won ordinary looking novice race at Yarmouth last month. At this stage doesn’t look good enough. |
| Monoski | Ran well when second on debut at York before easily winning four runner event at Pontefract. Certain to improve and another respected contender. |
| Ropey Guest | Out of his depth. |
| Royal Lytham | Neat horse who showed good attitude and ability when winning on debut at Navan 10 days before Ascot, quickening to catch Dark Vader. Still faces tough task. |
| Threat | Was only a four runner maiden race he won on debut at Newmarket over 1000m last month but runner-up Electrical Storm had previously run well and Threat will appreciate the extra 200m. |
| Well Of Wisdom | Narrowly beaten third behind Temple Of Heaven and Fort Myers when favourite at Newbury following promising debut success. |
