G1 – 1594m – Turf

1 Bell Rock

Three-year-old has only raced twice, winning novice event last year then respectable run behind King Of Comedy in Listed race this year. Would be a shock winner.

2 Circus Maximus

Bred to appreciate further and after winning Listed race at Chester over 2100m was creditable 6th in Derby over 2405m. Step down in trip likely to be a problem.

3 Fox Champion

Unbeaten this season, on latest run winning G2 German 2000 Guineas. Will need to improve on that form.

4 King Of Comedy

Stablemate of Too Darn Hot won Listed race at Sandown over 1600m last month. Was unsettled and keen there and will need to improve a lot. An unlikely winner.

5 Phoenix Of Spain

A high class two-year-old last year when just beaten by future 2000 Guineas winner Magna Grecia in G1 at Doncaster. Reappeared to win G1 Irish 2000 Guineas impressively and will be difficult to beat.

6 Royal Marine

Won G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp last October but well beaten in 2000 Guineas last month. Needs a big revival. Unlikely.

7 Shaman

French raider has improved this year to win G3 before finishing 2nd in G1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains. That wasn’t a strong renewal and the going was heavy. An unlikely winner.

8 Skardu

A high class colt who won a G3 event before finishing 3rd in the 2000 Guineas then 4th in the Irish 2000 Guineas. That leaves him with something to prove and doubtful if he will be good enough.

9 The Irish Rover

Fairly able but has won only one of his 11 races and is not good enough.

10 Too Darn Hot

Quickly showed himself top class as a two-year-old when unbeaten and won G1 Dewhurst Stakes. Outstayed by the race-fit Telecaster over 2051m in G2 Dante Stakes and beaten by Phoenix Of Spain in Irish 2000 Guineas. Training was interrupted and may reassert his authority.

11 Van Beethoven

Won one of five G2 races contested and well beaten this year in G1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains and Irish 2000 Guineas. Not good enough.
