1200m – Turf

1 I’ve Got A Feeling 11 starts for three wins, all over the course and distance. The third of his victories came on 2 Jan in Class 4 and his form tapered off after that. He was well beaten in a Group 3 sprint over 1200m in March. He was spelled after his 4.9L fifth in the Group 1 Singapore Guineas over 1600m in May. He made no showing in both runs back from that spell in Class 3. He has dropped to Class 4 here. He has won by leading all the way.
2 Wonderful Knight 38 starts, Malaysia included, for five wins. Three of his wins were on yielding going. His last success was in January last year over the course and distance and he pops up for the minor placings once in a while. However, he showed he is due for another win with two seconds at his last two starts. He races best when he gets to dictate in front.
3 Siglap Bird Only one start and that was on 15 Sept in Class 4. He tracked the leader but faded away to finish a 5.8L ninth of 12 runners. Back home in his native Japan, he had 12 starts for two wins over 1200m. He was second twice and third once, also over sprints. He needs marked improvement to have any say although the field looks only moderate.
4 Chase 31 starts for four wins, one over the course and distance. He has won in higher class in swift times and even took part in last year’s Group 2 Chairman’s Trophy over 1800m. Although he ran seventh, he was only 3L behind the winner Quechua. His recent form is a worry, though. Last time out on 13 Oct, he was fourth early but faded to finish 8.7L last over the Poly 1700m. When in form, he has a great turn of foot once he sees daylight.
5 Baffert Making Singapore debut. Had eight starts in Australia for a win over 1200m. Also had a second and two thirds from 1400m to 1600m. Won Singapore trial over the Poly 1000m in Oct.
6 Bayu Five starts for a win over the course and distance on a yielding track. Started career promisingly with three thirds and then scored on 24 Feb. Has not raced since finishing 4.9L eighth over the course and distance on March 24. He has had two trials for his comeback but whether that could put him back on the winning track fresh is left to be seen.
7 Lim’s Blast Six starts for a win over the Poly 1100m. After his four-month break, he scored victory second-up on 15 Oct in Maiden class. Last time out, he had his first turf race over the course and distance and he ran an eye-catching 1L third in Class 4. He has hit a good patch as evident from his last two performances and he must be in the calculations.
8 Red Symphony Only one start so far. Made debut on 22 Oct in Kranji Stakes D with some specks of support but beat only two home. Won only start in Australia over 1000m at Warracknabeal. Surely needs improvement to score second-up.
9 First Light Three starts for a last-start victory over 1400m on 25 Aug. His first two runs were also noteworthy. Ran debut 3.4L fourth in Maiden race over course and distance on 23 July,  then improved on that effort to finish a neck second over the Poly 1200m on 13 Aug. Looks a horse on the go. Can follow.
10 Flash One 24 starts for four wins, one over the course and distance which came at his last start on 22 Oct. Having not shown any form for a long time, he was neglected in the betting but he stormed home to break a nine-start drought. Now that he has come back to winning form, he should be kept in view, unless his latest success was a flash in the pan.
11 Elite Warrior 10 starts for a win over the Polytrack 1200m. That came seven starts back on 1 May. He gradually improved from fourth position to win by four lengths. He ran ordinarily until his penultimate start on 10 Sept when he came from behind to finish a 1.8L third over the Poly 1100m. He was a no-show again last time out on 27 Oct to finish a 5.6L sixth over the same Poly 1100m trip. A bit hard to assess, but likely no.
12 Super Ball 17 starts for a win over the course and distance. Five starts back on 27 Aug, he sprang a big surprise with a swift victory in a Novice race. But he has been dismal in four runs since. Last start on 22 Oct over the course and distance, he was second after the jump but faded away to finish a 8.7L 11th of 12 runners.
13 Masurao 34 starts for three wins, twice over 1400m and once over 1600m. Performed very well from middle of last season to early this year, never finishing out of the top three in eight consecutive starts. His form spiralled downwards after his 12 Feb success. After being unplaced in two starts in Class 4, he was spelled for 4 1/2 months and resumed on 6 Oct to finish a 7.1L ninth over 1400m. He has raced on the speed in his good runs.
