1600m – Turf

1 Sacred Galaxy Five starts for a win over 1400m on a yielding track. That was just two starts back on 1 Oct when he came from midfield to score by a mere nose in Kranji Stakes D. A run previous, he led over the course and distance before finishing a 1.3L fifth. Last time out on 22 Oct, the five-year-old dawdled in second last and passed a few close to home to finish a 5.6L seventh over 1400m in Class 4. The extra 200m should suit now.
2 Humdinger His recent form is quite good, with a win, two seconds and a fourth in his last four starts. Settled at the rear last time out on 22 Oct over 1400m in Class 4, he flew home to finish second by a length behind back-to-back winner Lim’s Magic. He rattles late, so the extra 200m should suit him.
3 Storm Trooper 36 starts for five wins, twice over the course and distance. His last success was on 2 June when he came from slightly worse than midfield to score over the course and distance in Class 4. He had two unplaced runs in Class 3 and bounced back with a come-from-behind third on returning to Class 4. Last start on 22 Oct, he came from last to finish a 2L fifth over 1600m.
4 Mr Exchequer 11 starts for two wins, both over the course and distance. After attaining his back-to-back successes (in Restricted Maiden and Class 4), he ran in the G1 Singapore Guineas over 1600m but could only finish 7.2L behind the winner. He was then spelled and resumed on 22 Sep in Class 4, finishing a 3.8L seventh to Humdinger over 1400m. He improved last start on 22 Oct to finish 2.3L third over 1400m. Raced handy when winning.
5 Wonderful Era One win over the course and distance. He last placed on 16 July when second by 0.8L over the Poly 1800m. He was unplaced in his three subsequent starts, the latest on 27 Oct when a 6.4L fifth over the Poly 1700m. Races midfield and starts moving turning for home.
6 Pentagon In January, he finished second and third over the course and distance. He tried 1800m in his subsequent two starts and finished a 1.6L third in the latter on 10 Feb. He was spelled after that and resumed on 27 Oct with strong support but could only finish a 2.7L fifth over 1400m after following the pace. He usually leads or just sits behind the leader.
7 Higher Soul A come-from-behind victory three starts back in Class 4 on 22 Sept. But she was unplaced in her following two starts, the latest just three weeks ago when she finished a 8.3L 11th of 12 runners. She comes from behind.
8 Master Of Malibu Three starts for a win over the Poly 1200m. Made a dream debut on 8 Sep by coming from a handy spot to score but in a rather slow time. Next start on 1 Oct, he was again well up but faded to finish a 7.2L sixth over 1200m on a yielding track. Last time out three weeks ago, he tracked the leader but failed to kick on, finishing a 2.5L fourth over 1400m. It looks a big ask in attempting 1600m at this stage.
9 Lim’s Archer Held up when a 2.1L eighth behind Mr Exchequer over the course and distance on 16 April. Showed return to form three starts back on 25 Aug when he set the pace before finishing a 0.8L second over 1200m. His last two runs, however, were ordinary but he worked with gusto on Wednesday morning.
10 Mings Man Hit form recently with two successes in last three starts. Scored on 8 Sep by leading all the way over the Poly 1200m in Class 5. After an unplaced run in Class 4, he returned to the winner’s circle last start over 1400m in Class 4. This time he came from a handy position. The 1400m is the longest trip he has run. It could be harder now with the better company and longer trip, but he looks fit.
11 Optimus He had three thirds in a row after his victory in July last year but went sour after that. He bounced back to the frame on 7 July this year when he led over the 1600m trip before finishing a 0.5L second. His subsequent two runs were average but he showed a glimpse of his old form with a last-start 2.5L fourth over 1400m.
12 The Odds Six starts for a win over 1400m and that was at his latest outing two weeks ago in an Open Maiden race. He came from slightly worse than midfield to score by 1.5L. Before that, he finished on the board in all five starts, establishing himself as a consistent performer. The way he finished off his races, the 1600m trip will suit him.
13 Happy Saga Both his turf victories were over 1400m. He last scored on 30 April and his subsequent six starts were not bad. On 20 Aug, he came with a late run to finish a 0.8L second over the Poly 1600m. Last time out on 27 Oct, he again made a late bid for a 3.3L third over the Poly 1700m. If the pace is strong and he gets a good run in transit, he can win at good odds.
Lim’s Ripple Eight starts for a win over 1400m. He scored second-up on 17 March, coming from around midfield and was then rested for over 3 months. After three fair showings, he ran a good 3L second over the course and distance on a yielding track. He followed up with a come-from-behind 1.5L third over the course and distance last start. An each-way chance.
14 Spur Me On Twice won over the course and distance. His form this campaign is good. He completed a Class 5 hat-trick over 1600m (two turf and one Poly) from mid-April to early July. After a two-start lapse, albeit not disgraceful efforts, he bounced back with a Class 4 victory, coming from midfield to score over 1200m on a yielding track. He tracked the leader last time out on 22 Oct over the course and distance before finishing a 4.8L sixth.

15 Millennium’s Rule Nine starts for a win over 1400m. Won second-up by leading practically all the way. He did not finish in the money in seven subsequent starts, racing in midfield or at the rear. Returned from break on 6 Oct when he was a 4.3L fifth over 1400m. He had one run over the course and distance for a 5L fifth.
