1400m – Turf

1 Lim’s Royal Five starts for two wins, over 1200m and 1400m. Made it third time lucky on 12 March, coming from midfield to score over 1400m. Was spelled after that. Resumed on 1 Oct and came from near last to finish a 1.6L third over 1200m on a yielding track in Class 4. Improved on that run to score last time out on 15 Oct over 1200m, also coming from the rear. His racing pattern suggests the 1400m will be right up his alley.
2 Casing Royal Won once over the course and distance on a yielding track. His last success was on 23 April in Kranji Stakes C over the Poly 1600m. He failed to finish on the board in nine subsequent starts in higher company and had dropped back to Class 4 last time out on 15 Oct. He was fifth throughout and finished 3.5L behind the winner.
3 Whose Else’s Won once over the course and distance. Scored second victory four starts back on 21 May, coming from a handy fourth to win in Class 4. His subsequent three starts were all unplaced. Last start over 1200m in Class 4 on 15 Oct, he beat only one home and finished 12.1L behind the winner. A bit unpredictable but can be hard to beat on his day.
4 Pusaka Four wins, once over the course and distance. He has won from behind or from a handy position. His last win was in March last year over 1600m. Since then, he failed to finish in the money in eight subsequent starts. He was spelled after finishing a 6.3L ninth over 1800m on 30 June.
5 Chocolats Has had only one start in Singapore for a 2L third over the course and distance in Class 4 on 13 Oct. He started as the favourite and led until close home. Had four starts in Australia for a win at Beaumont and a second at Wyong. Both were over 1350m. He looks the muscular and athletic type and should improve on his debut.
6 Justice Smart Two starts for a fourth over the course and distance. He showed improvement in his second run on 28 July. Well back early, he came home nicely to finish 1.4L behind the winner. If he improves again, he can be third time lucky.
7 Muscle Beach His last win was on 4 Dec last year and his best effort from nine subsequent runs was a 1.2L third over the Poly 1600m on 13 Aug. He finished a 6L seventh over the course and distance on 13 Oct. One of his two wins was from a handy position and the other from behind.
8 Sacred Surfer Has yet to win from five starts but always finished not far behind the winners. His best run was two starts back on 1 Oct when he was a one-length second to a stablemate over the course and distance in Class 4. Last time out three weeks ago, he went with the pace in a similar type of race and finished a 3.5L fifth.
9 Tun O’reilly Two starts for a debut win over the Polytrack 1100m in Restricted Maiden on 1 Sep. He was handy and kicked on from the final 200m. He next ran in a Novice race over 1200m on turf but was never in the hunt, finishing a 10.1L ninth.
10 Made In China Five starts for a win over the Polytrack 1200m. That was at his debut on 18 June. He tracked behind the leader before kicking away to win. He flopped second-up but finished fourth the next two starts, both also on the Poly. Then came his last start over 1400m on turf and he put up a good show. After tracking the leader, he looked like the winner but was overtaken by a long shot, going down by 1.8L. Back in form, can be followed.
11 Super Denman Five starts for a win over the Poly 1200m in Restricted Maiden on 29 Sep. Second early, he assumed the leader’s role before the bend and scooted away. He was installed the second favourite last start on 20 Oct but finished a 7.2L ninth over the Poly 1000m. He has won a trial leading to this and will be attempting 1400m for the first time.
12 Majulah 13 starts for a win over the course and distance on 15 Sep. He was second past the post by 0.5L but his rider lodged a successful protest against the first horse. That was in Maiden class. Last start Class 4 on 15 Oct, he tracked the leader before finishing a 6.9L eighth over 1600m. He either leads or races on the speed.
13 Southern Glory Seven starts for a win over the course and distance in Feb in Restricted Maiden company. He came from midfeld to win. After another run on 12 March, he was sent for a 5 1/2-month spell. On resuming, he was unplaced in three runs and then bounced back with a fast-closing third over 1600m last start on 15 Oct. His trial leading into this was quite good.
