| 1 | Better The Devil | From a stable with a great strike-rate with two-year-olds and this guy flew out of the gates to lead throughout in a maiden over this trip at Hamilton this month, easily fending off the more experienced favourite who had missed the break. Clearly fast. |
| 2 | Bill Neigh | Speedily bred, he was the outsider of three on his debut, in a conditions’ race on slow ground at Musselburgh early this month. Travelling nicely behind the other two, he easily quickened past those two more experienced rivals to win easily. |
| 3 | Charlemaine | Strangely he was taken to France for his debut, finishing third at Saint-Cloud, then not having too much difficulty winning a maiden at Brighton in April. However the form of that win has not been enhanced since and he’ll be an outsider here. |
| 4 | Dylan De Vega | Has shown plenty of speed on both starts, a close second first time and, though racing too freely and veering badly in the closing stages, he quickened much too well for his rivals to win a novices’ event over this trip at Beverley last month. |
| 5 | Glasvegas | Recovered from a slow start to finish a close second on his first career start and, later in May, won a novices’ event at Hamilton, looking an unlikely winner but running on strongly at the end. Might not have enough early pace here. |
| 6 | Iffraaz | A strong-looking colt who had to face muddy ground on his debut, in a novices’ event at Carlisle, but once he had been asked to quicken he got to the stands’ rail and won quite convincingly. He looks smart and Frankie Dettori is booked to ride. |
| 7 | Illusionist | Ran a good second on his first two starts, then fitted with blinkers in a fast-ground novices’ event at Bath. Always going well he surged clear in the closing stages and, though his three rivals were nothing special, it was still impressive. |
| 8 | Iva Reflection | Unfancied for a Doncaster maiden on his debut in April but after battling hard he got home in front. He then ran a close second in stronger conditions’ race company around Chester’s tight bends. However the winner of that has disappointed since. |
| 9 | Ivatheengine | On her debut she was only just beaten at Chepstow by a filly who has won since. Reappearing over about 1200m at Windsor last month, she beat her 12 rivals with a bit in hand despite still looking inexperienced. |
| 10 | Platinum Star | Heavily backed for his second start, only needing coaxing to win that Leicester maiden last month. He beat the nearest of his 11 rivals by 2L that day, but it looked as though it could have been much more. |
| 11 | Rayong | His talented trainer had been experiencing a frustrating time but Rayong helped to put that right, showing a lot of speed to win a fast-ground 1000m novices’ event at Carlisle in May. His trainer thinks he’ll be even better on good or slow ground. |
| 12 | Red Epaulette | Blinkered again as was for his last start when he briefly looked like springing a shock against a long odds-on Aidan O’Brien trained rival over this distance at Naas last month. So far he has looked to try his hardest on all three career starts. |
| 13 | Show Me Show Me | Looks the least fancied of his stables three runners. Facts and figures suggest that all three starts have been to a similar level and, though a respectable second over 1200m at Pontefract last time, he is unlikely to be quick enough for this. |
| 14 | Southern Hills | Put in Listed company for his debut, over 1200m at The Curragh last month but didn’t make an impact. It was a different story at Navan soon after when he skipped clear in a 1000m maiden, just caught in the last strides. Improving fast it seems. |
| 15 | Summer Sands | A very cheap yearling purchase – then sold for much more – he ran third in a strong-looking novices’ event at York on debut and then showed the benefit of that experience with a convincing win – again at this distance – at Beverley. |
| 16 | Symbolize | His very successful trainer does not have many first-time-out two-year-old winners so it is to Symbolize’s credit that he won a novices’ event on debut at Salisbury last month. He can be forgiven for showing some inexperience close home there. |
| 17 | Taxiwala | Narrowly beaten on his first two starts he was fitted with blinkers for this third attempt, at Brighton this month. His two rivals were quite decent but he led from gate to wire to win decisively. |
| 18 | Temple Of Heaven | Has shown a good attitude in winning both his starts, first at Nottingham and then when up to 1200m at Newbury. Drops back to 1000m here but this will probably be fast and furious so the fact that he has stamina for further should be an advantage. |
| 19 | Wheels On Fire | From a shrewd French, he led but under pressure almost from the start when winning on soft ground over 1000m at Bordeaux, then leading again but passed late on by two rivals at Lyon. |
| 20 | Electric Ladyland | Won on her first two starts, on all-weather surfaces. She disappointed on her turf debut at Chester but wasn’t beaten far in a Listed event at Sandown last month, showing a lot of speed until running out of gas late on. Looks best on fast ground. |
| 21 | Foolish Humor | This US raider stalked her stablemate and was going away after she got to the front when winning a fillies’ maiden over this distance at Belmont Park last month. Apparently she’s a big heavy filly who has been hard to get 100% fit but has been working well. |
| 22 | Karak | Quite an expensive purchase who was impressive when winning a 1000m maiden on the Belmont grass last month. Trainer Wesley Ward loves her but is worried about her lack of experience. Drying ground would certainly help. |
| 23 | Lady Quickstep | A surprise winner on her debut, at Brighton in May, streaking clear that day. However, although not disgraced since, it would be a huge shock if she was good enough to win this. |
| 24 | Paper Star | Has been well backed on all four starts and has run decently each time without managing a win. However her opposition has not been nearly as strong as some she will meet here so she is not easy to fancy. |
