Welcome in the new racing season at Sha Tin this Sunday

The Season Opening race meeting (Photo 1) will be held at Sha Tin Racecourse this Sunday (10 September). Spectacular on-course activities and games with prizes will also be on offer, while each racegoer will receive a free 2023/24 Racing Calendar* (Photo 2) as a door gift upon admission. To usher in the new season, a mega prize totalling HK$56 million is up for grabs on Sunday and at Happy Valley’s first scheduled fixture (Wednesday, 13 September) (Photo 3).

Spectacular line-up of on-course events
The opening ceremony will take place in the Parade Ring at 11.25am. It will start with the traditional eye-dotting of the ceremonial lions, followed by the gong-striking ceremony performed by The Honourable John KC LEE, GBM, SBS, PDSM, PMSM, The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (Photo 4). All jockeys will be in attendance to wish fans the very best for the coming season and an acrobatic show will provide a positive atmosphere. The Honourable John KC LEE, The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will later present the trophy to the winning connections of the Class 1 HKSAR Chief Executive’s Cup Handicap (1200m), scheduled to run as Race 4 at 1.55pm.

A series of unique and dazzling murals with the “Racing in HK City” theme (Photo 5,6), designed by local young artist Jacky Tao and his team, will feature at Sha Tin Racecourse.

Lucky gongs (Photo 7) to represent well wishes for the new season will be set up at Sha Tin. Fans are welcome to strike the lucky gongs for a good start to the new season. Participants playing “Season Opening Trivia” Beat Game (Photo 8) in the Public Betting Hall will receive a special prize, while stocks last. Live music (Photo 9) and a themed food truck will be also available in the Public Betting Hall.

HK$28 million mega prize for Sha Tin and Happy Valley fixtures
For the season’s opening raceday at Sha Tin Racecourse on 10 September, there will be total estimated dividends of HK$28 million on offer. A Triple Trio jackpot will be topped up with HK$11 million and the dividend is estimated to reach HK$18 million if there is only one single HK$10 winning unit.

Meanwhile, the 5th Double Trio and Six Win Bonus jackpots will be each topped up with HK$1 million from the Operator Reserve and the estimated dividends could reach HK$6 million and HK$4 million respectively for a single HK$10 winning unit.

For the season’s first night meeting at Happy Valley Racecourse on 13 September, up to HK$28 million in total dividends could be won. A Triple Trio jackpot will be topped up with HK$11 million and the dividend is estimated to reach HK$18 million for one single HK$10 winning unit.

Additionally, the 4th Double Trio and Six Win Bonus jackpots will be each topped up with HK$1 million from the Operator Reserve and the estimated dividends could reach HK$6 million and HK$4 million, respectively, for a single HK$10 winning unit.

Sha Tin Racecourse will be open for admission at 10.25am on Sunday, 10 September for a 10-race card, with the first race starting at 12.25pm.
