Lucky Start at Sha Tin Racecourse on Sunday, 1 January

The “Lucky Start January 1 Raceday” (photo 1) at Sha Tin Racecourse will offer racegoers a chance to get 2023 off to a galloping start with thrilling races and spectacular on-course activities. 


HK$100 million mega prize to bring in 2023
A mega prize of HK$100 million (photo 2) will be on offer to celebrate the New Year. At the “Lucky Start January 1 Raceday” at Sha Tin Racecourse, the Triple Trio is estimated to reach HK$18 million for a single HK$10 winning unit with the Triple Trio jackpot being topped up to HK$10.5 million from the Triple Trio Jackpot Reserve. The Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool for Races 7 and 11 will be allocated a jackpot of HK$1 million each.


In addition, the Mark Six New Year Snowball Draw will be held on 3 January, with the First Division Prize Fund estimated to reach HK$80 million for a single HK$10 winning unit.


On-course activities at Sha Tin 
Racegoers attending the “Lucky Start January 1 Raceday” at Sha Tin Racecourse can join the “Capture Your Luck – Horseshoe Hunt Game” and the “Interactive Fun Quiz Game” for a chance to win fabulous prizes. Live music performances will also be trackside as we bring in the New Year in style.  


The day’s highlight will be the first Group race for 2023, the HK$3.9 million G3 Chinese Club Challenge Cup Handicap (1400m), to be run on turf as Race 8.  The first race will be run at 12:30pm on Sunday, 1 January. Sha Tin Racecourse will open for admission at 10:30 am.
