The Stewards have been advised that a polymerase chain reaction (“PCR”) test undertaken by Visiting Jockey Mickael Barzalona this morning has tested positive to COVID-19.

Accordingly, Jockey Barzalona has withdrawn from this evening’s LONGINES International Jockeys’ Championship (“IJC”).  In accordance with the provisions of the IJC prospectus, Jockey Derek K C Leung has been substituted for Jockey Barzalona and will ride the following horses in the IJC:-

Race 4: CIRCUIT SEVEN
Race 5: WIN WIN FIGHTER
Race 7: THE ANOMALY
Race 8: NAMJONG SINGS

​The Stewards have also approved the following substitutions for Jockey Barzalona’s race riding engagements at tonight’s racemeeting outside of the designated IJC races:-

Race 1: TOYCOON – M Chadwick
Race 2: MEDIC ELITE – R Moore
Race 3: TOUCH FAITH – J McDonald
Race 6: HOWDEEPISYOURLOVE – R Moore
Race 9: SO WE JOY – M L Yeung

Further, Jockey Barzalona will not be eligible to be declared for race riding engagements at the Sha Tin racecourse at the LONGINES Hong Kong International Racemeeting to be conducted at Sha Tin Racecourse on Sunday, 11 December 2022.
