G1 – 2000m – Turf
1 |
War Of Athena |
Five consecutive graded victories – the last three securing her the highly sought-after SA Triple Tiara – proves that this is a superstar. Trainer Paul Matchett said she won the SA Oaks over 2450m “not fully extended” and looked like she could do it again the day after. The one to beat. |

Only The Brave |
Played a pivotal role in stablemate War Of Athena’s Triple Tiara success, especially in the Oaks over 2450m when the field was spread over about 20 lengths heading into the final 1000m. She will probably be tasked with setting the pace or providing cover and won’t be expected to hang on for a place. |
3 |
Emerald Palace |
Two massive runs – both over 1900m on the Polytrack – since changing trainer has certainly put this filly in the limelight. Although she’s unlikely to contest the finish, the run should be a good learning experience for her. There’s also a question whether she can replicate her poly form on the turf. |
4 |
Scented Mistress |
Has come on in leaps and bounds since beaten 8 lengths in the Cape Fillies Guineas. Racing over further suits her better. Impressed last time out in the East Coast Cup over course and distance after a few bumps in running. Judged on that run, she’s a contender. |

Princess Calla |

6 |
Chat Ching |
Trainer Candice Bass-Robinson has a reputation for pulling a rabbit from her hat, but she’s unlikely to do it with Chat Ching. Three place-finishes in Grade 1 races does, however, mean she’s not just an also-ran, but over this distance and in this company a top-three finish will be an achievement. |
7 |
Netta |
Her runaway victory over 2000m in the Grade 2 Gerald Rosenberg Stakes last time out shows she is improving with every run and the distance suits her to a tee. A definite contender, she just needs a bit of luck in running. |
