1200m – Turf

1 Danzeno Has an enviable win and place record and has run plenty of good races here including once when 3rd in a G1. First run for a while but he goes well fresh.
2 Tinto Modest efforts earlier this year but then landed a shock win at Newmarket, leading at half-way and not coming back to his challengers.
3 Angel Alexander His trip to Meydan earlier this year didn’t pay off. But last September he had beaten a huge field in a prestigious Ayr handicap. Slow ground ideal.
4 Mr Lupton A G2 winner at The Curragh on his first 2019 start, quickening from the back. Went off the boil later but looked in good shape on his recent return.
5 Mubakker Has won three of his five starts and warmed up for this with a fluent victory at Newcastle this month. Likely to come late and best chance on good or quick ground.
6 Gulliver Versatile groundwise he would have hopes here if showing the same flair that saw him snatch victory in a 22-runner York handicap last October.
7 Dazzling Dan Didn’t show much zip on his 2020 return. His three career wins have come over this trip, whilst slow ground may help his cause.
8 Summerghand Busy since a solid 5th in this last year. No luck at Meydan this year but bounced back with a close 2nd at Newmarket.
9 Bielsa This gelding soared up the ratings last season when showing some blinding speed to win three of his four starts. Could still be ahead of the handicapper.
10 Soldier’s Minute A winner at Kempton in last October and not beaten far on any of his all-weather starts since. Had sprung a shock when winning on good to firm turf in May 2019.
11 Recon Mission Difficult to place having proven not good enough for Group races, but also suffering from a high handicap rating.
12 Bella Fever Won a string of sprint races when trained in Uruguay, and also came with a strong surge to win at Meydan in February. Now trained in the UK.
13 Arecibo Encouraging that he has run really well on both visits here, though over 1000m. Didn’t seem to handle the undulations of Newmarket last time.
14 Air Raid Not seen since well beaten last October but has won after a break before. His record firmly suggests that he’s best on a slow surface.
15 Hey Jonesy Disappointing in all recent starts and only beat one rival home at Royal Ascot on Tuesday. Being tried in blinkers here.
16 Silent Echo Ran a really good 5th in this in 2018, finishing well. He races off a 2lb easier handicap mark this time, and won at Newmarket this month.
17 Spanish City Without winning he has not been beaten far on any of his previous Ascot visits. Closed down 2019 with another good show – at Newmarket.
18 No Nonsense His career best performance came when a running-on 2nd in a G3 over this course and distance last year. Didn’t show much in two later starts.
19 Lethal Lunch A past course and distance winner, and twice a winner last season though facing a career high handicap mark for this 2020 return. Has a tongue strap fitted.
20 Highland Dress Has won three of his six starts and though his handicap mark is rising fast, he still seems to be improving – winning easily at Newmarket this month.
21 Stone Of Destiny His last win came over 1000m at this track last August and, though his record over this trip is less good, he made an encouraging 2020 return.
22 Konchek A very smart two-year-old but a very disappointing three-year-old. Has been gelded since his last start and his trainer has also changed his training regime.
23 Jack’s Point From a low profile stable, having a terrific Royal Ascot. And this guy has chances if he can repeat his 2nd – at huge odds – in a 1400m handicap on Tuesday.
24 Teruntum Star An eight-time winner but sometimes runs some poor races for no apparent reason. In his best mood, he won a heavy ground Newbury handicap last October.
