| 1 | Alounak | Won G3 in Germany and later second in G1 in Canada and good fifth at Breeders’ Cup. Well behind on debut for Andrew Balding in Coronation Cup. Needs to do better. |
| 2 | Anthony Van Dyck | Won 2019 Derby but hasn’t won in six runs since, although shown good form, including when runner-up in recent G1 Coronation Cup. Favourite’s chance but not unbeatable. |
| 3 | Communique | Last in this race 2019 (lost a shoe). Seems best at Newmarket where won two G2s but only fair return run there this month. Much better needed. |
| 4 | Defoe | Experienced campaigner who won this race last year after winning G1 Coronation Cup. Well beaten on return this month and needs to get back into groove. |
| 5 | Desert Encounter | Last in 2018 and 2019 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes. Won G1 in Canada those years but form suspect. Last in Coronation Cup this month and huge task for 8-y-o. |
| 6 | Eagles By Day | Easily best form when third in G2 King Edward VII Stakes here last year. Subsequently disappointed and a lot to prove. |
| 7 | Elarqam | Strong form in 2019 and narrowly beaten by talented Lord North recently over 2038m. This is 5-y-o’s first try at 2400m. On pedigree not certain to appreciate it. |
| 8 | Hamish | Progressive and good record last year. That at lower level and over further. Late maturing and may improve further. |
| 9 | Morando | 7-y-o. Fourth last year. Won G3 well here on latest run in October but never won above that level. Best on soft ground. Needs career best. |
| 10 | Spanish Mission | Successful at G3 level last year before winning valuable race at Belmont. Stays well, probably best on fast ground. Needs further progress. |
| 11 | Fanny Logan | Steady progress last year to win G3 then creditable fourth at Breeders’ Cup. Should improve on return run 12 days ago and appreciate step up to 2400m. Good chance. |
