1993m – Turf
1 | Highland Chief | Wasn’t beaten far by two-year-old champion Pinatubo in a 1400m Listed race here last year. Interesting despite a big weight to carry. |
2 | Grand Rock | Showed plenty of ability on his last three two-year-old starts, latterly when a staying-on third in Listed company. Should enjoy this longer trip. |
3 | Laser Show | An easy winner on the dirt at Meydan in January though two poor runs followed. Proven on turf, having won on his career debut at Sandown. |
4 | Hypothetical | Both career starts on the all-weather, winning easily first time but a beaten favourite in a Kempton G3, racing too keenly. Chance if he settles. |
5 | Tritonic | Struggled in a strong Newmarket G3 on soft ground that didn’t suit on his final start. Had looked useful when winning his two previous starts. |
6 | Acquitted | A big colt who returned when second at Newcastle this month, travelling strongly but not quick enough for one well handicapped rival. This longer trip could well help. |
7 | Ya Hayati | Strong at the finish when winning over 1900m at Meydan in February. Failed to handle a dirt surface subsequently. Quirky, according to his trainer. |
8 | Global Storm | Followed up a successful two-year-old career with a handicap victory over this trip at Newmarket this month, proving courageous to hold on when strongly challenged. |
9 | Gallaside | Not yet proven over this trip, disappointing over it on his final start. Had won his three previous starts, all with positive tactics used. |
10 | Cepheus | A sustained challenge saw him gain a shock debut win last August. Returning in a G1 Newmarket Classic this month, he made no impact. |
11 | Yoshimi | Consistent, having won or been placed on all six starts. Late progress to be third in a strong Newcastle handicap this month, and this longer trip may help. |
12 | Dogged | Led but faded fast in a Newmarket handicap over this trip earlier this month. Has some stronger previous form but hard to fancy. |
13 | Tom Collins | Beat ten rivals in a 1400m Newmarket novices’ event last October, but last of nine in a Kempton G3 on his 2020 return. |
14 | Bronze River | Won two of his three starts in 2019. Moved up to this trip for his handicap debut this month, lasting the distance in third but lacking a finishing kick. |
15 | Maori Knight | An all-weather maiden winner before posting a career best up to this trip at Haydock this month, a close second after rallying bravely on that handicap debut. |
16 | HMS President | An easy all-weather maiden winner on his final 2019 start, probably needing his 2020 return, launching a challenge at Yarmouth before fading. |

Mafia Power | A few pounds ‘wrong’ in the handicap which technically makes this difficult. However he has run well on both starts and seems to stay this trip. | |
