G1 – 1600m – Turf
| Danon Premium | JRA Champion 2YO Colt in 2017. 2nd in the G1 Tenno Sho Autumn (2000m) and G1 Mile Championship last year. Travelled to Australia and failed to meet the top pick when 3rd to Addeybb in the G1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick on 11 April last out. Races handily. Damian Lane will be on board. |
| Danon Kingly | Finished top three in eight of nine starts. 3rd in the G1 Satsuki Sho (2000m) and 2nd in the G1 Japanese Derby (2400m) in 2019. Scored his 3rd graded stakes success in the G2 Nakayama Kinen (1800m) in March. Half-length third to Lucky Lilac last time in G1 Osaka Hai (2000m). Tested only on firm. Dropping to 1600m should be effective for him. Can sit handily. |
| Normcore | Last year’s G1 Victoria Mile winner and a running-on 4th to Admire Mars in the G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Mile at Sha Tin in December. Never a factor in her first start this season in the G1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen (1200m) in March but bounced back to finish 4.3L 3rd in the G1 Victoria Mile in May last out. |
| Kluger | 6 wins between 1600m and 2000m from 26 starts. Best effort was 2nd to Winx in the G1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick in April 2019. Form dipped since but bounced back with a 2L win in the G3 Lord Derby Challenge Trophy (1600m) at Nakayama on 4 April last time. Hold-up runner but can race close to the speed. |
| Almond Eye | Pulled off a dominating 4L win for her 7th G1 title, on her seasonal debut in the G1 Victoria Mile (1600m) on 17 May. Met traffic after she jumped and covered the fastest time among the field over the last 600m in this race last year, but was narrowly beaten in 3rd. Showed no tiredness after last run. Should be able to avenge of last year’s defeat. |
| Indy Champ | Japan’s champion miler in 2019 with wins in this race and the G1 Mile Championship. Kicked off this term with a 4th behind Danon Kingly in the G2 Nakayama Kinen (1800m) in March. Justified his favoritism with a 2L win in the G2 Yomiuri Milers Cup (1600m) last time out in late April. Best suited to this course and distance. Settles midfield or better. |
| Persian Knight | Won 2017 G1 Mile Championship but no win in 14 starts since. Ran 2nd and 3rd in that race in 2018 and 2019, before running 5th in the G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Mile last December. Started this term 5th in the G2 Nakayama Kinen (1800m) last out. One turn at Tokyo and 1600m should be his best. |
| Keiai Nautique | 3 wins at 1600m from 19 starts. Won G1 NHK Mile Cup in May 2018 but has not scored in 12 starts since. Below par in the G3 Tokyo Shimbun Hai (1600m) in February but ran a fair 4th to Kluger in the G3 Lord Derby Challenge Trophy (1600m) in April; 6th in the G2 Keio Hai Spring Cup (1400m) in May last time out. Hold-up runner. |
| Admire Mars | Unbeaten in first four career starts including the 2018 G1 Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes (1600m) to be JRA Champion 2YO Colt. Ran 4th behind Saturnalia in the G1 Satsuki Sho (2000m) before claiming the G1 NHK Mile Cup in May last year. Rounded off the term with victory in the G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Mile at Sha Tin. Hasn’t raced since. Has won 6 of 7 starts over a mile. |
| Mr Melody | Winner of last year’s G1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen (1200m). Proved his class over the mile when 4th to Keiai Nautique in the G1 NHK Mile Cup in 2018. Ran 6th in the JPN G1 JBC Sprint (1400m, dirt) at NAR’s Urawa last November. Will run for the first time in 7 months. Sits close to the speed. |
| Gran Alegria |
Won last year’s G1 Oka Sho (1600m) in track record time. Returned from 7-month spell to win the G2 Hanshin Cup (1400m) by 5L in December. First attempt at 1200m last out in the G1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen in March and showed speed to finish a nose 2nd. Skipped the G1 Victoria Mile due to fever. Sits handily but can be saved for a late run. |
| Seiun Kosei | Seven-time winner including the 2017 G1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen (1200m) from 34 outings. No win since the G3 Hakodate Sprint Stakes (1200m) in June 2018. Fair 5th to Danon Smash in G2 Keio Hai Spring Cup (1400m) at Tokyo on 16 May latest. Can lead or race handily. No ground issues. |
| Vin De Garde | Three of his four career wins came at 1600m. Met slow pace but pulled off a strong challenge late when 3.5L 3rd to Indy Champ in the G2 Yomiuri Milers Cup (1600m) at Kyoto on 26 April latest. Rain affected track should be more suitable. Races from back. |
| Danon Smash | Eight wins at 1200m and 1400m in 18 career starts. Made all to score his 5th graded stakes win in the G2 Keio Hai Spring Cup (1400m) at Tokyo in May last out. 1200m should be his best trip, so stretching out to 1600m will be a concern. |
