1000m – Turf
1 | Copper Knight | Not very big but an 8-times winner who always does his best. Has run well off a break before and still fairly handicapped despite top weight. |
2 | Leodis Dream | No worries that he comes here off a break as defied an absence to win well first time in 2019. However his handicap mark looks challenging. |
3 | Stone Of Destiny | His trainer reckons that he was unlucky on several occasions last season, until winning at Ascot. This trip and good ground are ideal. |
4 | Count d’Orsay | In great form late last season with two wins and a good 2nd in a big field. Only problem is facing a career high handicap mark on this return. |
5 | Aplomb | His jockey steered him to victory in a handicap last August and the pair very nearly won another at Ascot in October. Any ease in the ground would help. |
6 | Makanah | Won first time off a break last season so no concerns there. He is versatile in terms of ground and tactics. |
7 | Street Parade | Led for most of the trip to win at Windsor early last season. Yet to win again despite near misses. Best on fast ground according to his trainer. |
8 | Encore d’Or | Has a higher winning strike-rate on the all-weather compared to turf. Has a sinking handicap mark following a mostly disappointing 2019. |
9 | Venturous | This speedster returned from a lengthy break to outclass his rivals in a modest all-weather sprint in January. Prefers a fast surface. |
10 | Blue De Vega | 3rd in a 1600m G1 as a 3YO but has been a handicap sprinter for a long time now. He needs a strong pace to aim at. |
11 | Royal Birth | His last 14 starts have come on the all-weather but he is three times a turf winner. His jockey has only partnered him once before, finishing 2nd then. |
12 | Restless Rose | She was in good form in all-weather sprints earlier this year, winning twice. Also decent on turf and her trainer thinks she’s been unlucky a few times. |
