G2 – 2392m – Turf
| Bangkok | Impressive when winning his first two starts this season, latterly a G3 at Sandown. Fancied for the Derby at Epsom subsequently but flopped. Ascot should suit better than Epsom. |
| Eagles By Day | The runaway winner of a maiden over this distance on fast ground in April but didn’t make much impact behind the subsequent Derby winner at Lingfield. Maybe the soft ground didn’t help. |
| Humanitarian | Started 2019 when leading all the way in a novices’ event and then did well considering the huge rise in class to finish seventh in the Epsom Derby, staying on without seriously threatening. |
| Jack Yeats | Hasn’t yet reached the same achievement level of stablemate Japan here but he’s upwardly mobile and the manner of his 2000m maiden win at Naas was very pleasing. |
| Japan | A G2 winner last year but what makes him the likely favourite here is when moved up to this trip he was a fast finishing close third in the Derby at Epsom last month, despite his jockey dropping his whip. |
| Pablo Escobarr | Second in a handicap and Listed event on fast and slow ground at Bath and Lingfield this season. The latter run received a huge boost when the winner went on to win the Epsom Derby. |
| Pondus | Although he has only won novices’ event on his last two starts he has a big home reputation. Particularly impressive at Sandown last time and the rise in distance should be okay. |
| Private Secretary | Has won all three starts this season, moving up in class each time. He had to work hard to win a Listed event at Goodwood last month, but won with a bit in hand. Should be happy at this slightly longer trip. |
