G1 – 2000m – Turf
1 |
Natan |
Looks a strong Argentinian contender with perhaps his best performance coming over this course and distance when smoothly justifying odds-on favouritism in the G1 Estrellas Classic in June. |
2 |
Callejero |
A regular in the top races at Brazil’s Gavea racecourse where achievements include winning a G2 over this distance. Argentina’s current leading rider has been booked for this assignment. |
3 |
Samay |
A Peruvian challenger with a terrific winning strike-rate on the grass at Monterrico (Peru), winning his last six starts. He has enjoyed G1 success at this trip and is respected despite this being easily his toughest challenge. |
4 |
Vivir La Vida |
This Chilean challenger is a six-time winner and gained his most significant success on his last start when landing a G3 over 1900m at Valparaiso in August. |
5 |
Doutor Sureno |
A very strong contender from Brazil with a consistent profile in top level races over this distance and further. Showed terrific acceleration to win this year’s G1 Gran Premio Sao Paulo in a fast time. |
6 |
Papa Mim |
A smart five-year-old challenger who is a six-times winner at up to G3 level. However, he may be more effective over further than this, and, in any case, on ratings has something to prove. |
7 |
Don Feres |
Like his prolific winning trainer he is a champion in Peru where he has won five of his six starts on the grass at Monterrico at distances up to this trip. Looks a major contender. |
8 |
Costa Del Norte |
One of many prolific winners in this, having won eight of her 14 races including a G2 and a G3 over this distance in her native Chile. Looks vulnerable at this level however. |
9 |
Don’t Lose Time |
Won twice on the dirt at Monterrico (Peru) over 1200m. Has since proved that he could handle this longer trip but it would be a surprise if he was quite good enough for this. |
10 |
Irwin |
Lots of big race success at Argentina’s major tracks – San Isidro and Palermo, including at a G1 level. Won the 2000m trial for this and is surely a major contender. |
11 |
Roheryn |
From Chile, he has won six of his 20 starts, at up to G3 level. Has raced over a variety of trips but seems comfortable over this 2000m. Likely to find a few of these rivals too strong however. |
12 |
Demi Moore |
This experienced contender is four times a winner at Uruguay’s most important track including one of their most important races back in 2021, also a winner at G2 level in Argentina but disappointed last time. Versatile trip-wise. |
13 |
Pepe Joy |
Rarely runs below his best and is a big money-earner on the Argentinian circuit, with wins at G1, G2 and G3 level. With plenty of stamina, a fierce gallop would help. |
14 |
Best Galano |
Arrives here fresh off a career-best performance when winning a Listed contest over 2400m at San Isidro. Still needs to find some more improvement to win this, and the drop in trip may not help. |
