The Club has a long-standing commitment to supporting Hong Kong’s racehorse Owners, recognising that their investment in high-quality horses is fundamental to Hong Kong’s world-class racing. Accordingly, building on successive annual increases in the prize money pool, a record total prize money and incentives of $1.62 billion is offered to Owners in the 2022/23 season, which also sees a record single-season increase of 11.5% in overall purse. An additional 10% increase has been made to the prize money for Classes 1 to 3 races from 1600M to 2400M.
To reward and incentivise substantial financial commitment of Owners importing PPs, a $1 million first win in Class 3 bonus has also been introduced in the 2022/23 season for PPs winning for the first time in Class 3 when rated 60 or above. As of 11 March this term, a total of 25 PPs has won the first win bonus when landing their first victory in Class 3, with another 12 horses getting a bonus when winning at Class 2 or above.
