G1 – 1000m – Turf
| Acklam Express | Has won in Listed company over this course and distance and has occasionally run really well in G1 company, finishing third at Royal Ascot this year at huge odds. |
| Ainsdale | His four wins have all come on slow surfaces. But even if he gets that here he will surely be outpaced and outclassed. |
| Clarendon House | Only had two rivals to beat at Beverley in June, most recently outpaced in a G2 at Goodwood. Doesn’t look quite fast enough. |
| Dragon Symbol | Gained his third G1 placing when third in this last year. An impressive victory in a minor event last time should have prepared him for this challenge. |
| Emaraaty Ana | Familiar with G1 sprints and second in this last year before just holding on to G1 glory at Haydock. Hasn’t repeated that since but hinted at a return to form at Newmarket last month. |
| Khaadem | In terrific form on his last two starts, narrowly winning a G3 at Newmarket, returning 90 days later to outspeed his rivals in a Goodwood G2. Quirky but very fast. |
| Lazuli | First career start at York for this gelding who justified favouritism in a 1000m G2 at Meydan in February. Not beaten far in a Goodwood G2 last month but a bit more needed. |
| Raasel | Has won nine of his 16 starts. Formerly a successful handicapper and now a group sprinter as he showed when winning a Sandown G3, and almost winning a Goodwood G2. |
| Ebro River | A 1200m G1 winner at The Curragh last year, back in winning form at Chester last time with first-time blinkers fitted. Slow ground is important. |
| New York City | Won a Listed contest earlier this season, rallying bravely. But well held on his last two starts and, even from this stable, is hard to fancy for the win money. |
| Highfield Princess | All runs at York good especially her G2 win here in May with her talents advertised yet again with her G1 victory at Deauville this month. This super mare thrives on racing. |
| Winter Power | Well below form on all five starts since she won this G1 last year. A revival might happen back at her favourite track, provided she relaxes early on. |
| Flotus | A close third in a Royal Ascot G1 was followed by a G3 victory over 1200m here, leading from gate to wire. Those tactics may well be tried again on this speedster. |
| Royal Aclaim | Unbeaten in three starts and booked her ticket for this with a smooth victory over nine rivals in Listed company over this course and distance. Major contender if the progress continues. |
| The Platinum Queen | An ambitious attempt to win this as a two-year-old, but will get plenty of weight from the rest. Impressive front-running victories here and at Goodwood on her last two starts. |
