At his best when easily winning a Newmarket handicap in May. But very likely to struggle at this level as he did in a G1 at Goodwood last time.

Quickthorn

Has developed into a very smart stayer, and posted a career best with a sparkling front running victory in a 2800m Longchamp G2 last month. Slow ground ideal.

Reshoun

A tough handicapper who won at Newbury in July. Stays even further so wants a fast pace but surely won’t be good enough to win.

Stradivarius

This legendary stayer is just about as good as ever judging by his 2022 efforts. He is particularly well suited to the long straight at York and could easily win this G2 for a fourth time.

Tashkhan

Only 3l behind Stradivarius in a G2 here in May, and showed again at Royal Ascot in June that he is capable of making his presence felt in top class staying contests.

Trueshan

An outstanding stayer, scoring a memorable handicap win under a huge weight two starts back, then running an excellent third in a Goodwood G1 on faster ground than ideal. Rain please.

Mostly Cloudy

Has been in terrific form, defying increasingly higher handicap marks to win his last five starts. Can he mix it in G2 company is the difficult question now.
