1400m – Turf

1 Baltic Voyage Tenth of eleven in a Newbury maiden on his only start, making a little headway near the end. An expensive purchase who now must progress.
2 Captain Wentworth Out of an unraced mare, he has his first start today. Not impossible for a newcomer to win this, as one did last in 2017.
3 Classic Withdrawn
4 Desert Order Two very promising runs in hot events, and even though he was a beaten favourite over 1600m at Sandown last time, it was only by a short-head with the first pair clear. Chance.
5 Frankie’s Wish An inexpensive purchase with a pedigree that emphasizes speed. Probably best watched on this debut.
6 Glenfinnan Finished fourth in a novice race over 1200m at Newbury last month. That experience and this longer trip are both positives.
7 Hi Royal From a stable well capable of producing first-time-out two-year-old winners, often ridden by this excellent jockey Kevin Stott.
8 Lahab From the stable that won this last year, and despite racing too keenly and showing inexperience, shaped promisingly when third at Newbury on his debut. The rise to 1400m looks helpful.
9 My Harrison George Quite an expensive purchase, this half-brother to six winners makes his debut today.
10 No Barrier Changed hands for 250,000 euros as a two-year-old. From a speedy family, he has his first career start today.
11 Pjanoo Made a very good start, only beaten by a subsequent G2 winner, at Newbury. Couldn’t justify favouritism at Ayr when racing too keenly.
12 Racingbreaks Ryder The first foal of a fairly useful racemare, he has his first start today.
13 Salt Lake City This Aidan O’Brien-trained Irish raider didn’t appear fancied to beat some more experienced rivals on his debut, over 1400m at The Curragh. But he ran a promising second.
14 Sigmund According to pedigree this newcomer may need longer trips than this before being ready to win.
15 Single Track Mind A newcomer, this first foal of an unraced mare comes from a stable who would not be famous for first-time-out winners.
16 Three Yorkshiremen Made quite an encouraging start, at Chester late last month – running on into third in a novices’ event. May need more time before he is ready to win.
17 Yacowlef Back up in trip having lacked the necessary speed to threaten over 1200m at Goodwood, but he finished fast for third which was encouraging.
18 Maggie’s Tern Placed in two 1200m maidens on her two starts, latterly when finishing well from off the speed. This rise to 1400m looks good policy.
19 Mahboobah Couldn’t quite get to a more experienced front-running winner at Yarmouth on this month’s first career start but it was still an eye-catching effort. Up to a more appropriate trip.
20 Ubettabequick An expensive purchase, she is a half-sister to various winners. Stable’s newcomers usually benefit from their first start.
