Ran poorly at York two starts back but bounced back with a front-running victory on fast ground at Haydock. All speed, and those tactics may well be tried again. |
2 |
Tenaya Canyon |
Has won two of her five turf starts, most recently when coming from off the pace to outspeed 9 rivals in a Doncaster handicap. That was probably a career-best display. |
3 |
Mid Winster |
Three of her last five starts have been here at York, mostly good efforts without looking like winning including when favourite last time. Leads or races close to the speed. |
4 |
Stars In The Night |
This speedy filly won three all-weather handicaps in a short space of time earlier in 2021. Only caught close home in a handicap sprint at Thirsk this month, a good effort. |
5 |
Ey Up It’s Maggie |
Back to 1000m after two starts over further. Her two wins have come at this trip on a slow racing surface which appear to be her ideal conditions. |
6 |
Noorban |
Has finished second on her last two York runs, including under top weight in a handicap last time out, wearing cheekpieces then. Good or fast ground suits. |
7 |
Miss Nay Never |
Perfectly capable on turf even though her wins have all come on all-weather surfaces – including a victory at Newcastle last time. Likes to lead or be close to the speed. |
8 |
Ice Station Zebra |
Has a good strike rate winning four of her eight starts though her last three wins have been at around 1200m. Has had a break since a modest run at Newbury. |
9 |
Ballintoy Harbour |
From a stable that excel with sprinters and she dropped back to this trip to outspeed her rivals at Newmarket last month. Didn’t show the same flair when favourite last time. |
10 |
Atiyah |
Strong at the end when winning an all-weather sprint handicap last time. Yet to win on turf but looked like winning at Ripon two starts back – just running out of gas late on. |
11 |
Princess Power |
Cheekpieces are on today probably in an attempt to up her winning chances after 16 consecutive defeats. Not beaten far though in any recent starts. |
12 |
Not On Your Nellie |
Having her first York run, but seems in good shape and has only been narrowly beaten in two of her last three starts. Versatile groundwise and stable in good form. |
13 |
Ventura Flame |
A consistent sprint handicapper albeit at a fairly modest level. Surged late to win at Hamilton and has run decently on subsequent starts. Ran poorly here back in 2019. |
14 |
Four Adaay |
A 1000m specialist who was always travelling nicely when outspeeding her nine rivals in a Goodwood handicap in May. That was on slow ground but she handles fast also. |
15 |
Lady Quickstep |
Not consistent but she returned to her best when a surprise winner at Yarmouth earlier this month. It would be another surprise if she won here. |
