1600m – Turf

1 One World Highly talented performer who won his first five starts but could only manage third spot behind Soqrat in the G1 Cape Guineas (1600m). This is probably about as far as he can go right now but his class could see him through although he is held by Twist Of Fate on the Guineas run. Has a top jockey in Anton Marcus but will have to contend with No 11 draw.
2 Chimichuri Run Another very good performer who is never far behind the winner but he is held by One World on two runs. He is well drawn at No 2 and will be ridden by champion jockey Lyle Hewitson. Will be in the firing line over the final 200m.
3 Twist Of Fate Top-class three-year-old who finished second in the G1 Guineas and then won the G3 Politician Stakes (1800m) with ease. S’manga Khumalo rides and he is the horse to beat.
4 Provocateur Three seconds over 1400m in his last three races but on breeding is unlikely to be at his best over 200m further. Could place.
5 Majestic Mozart He finished fifth in the G1 Guineas and is not without some sort of chance although he will have to find a way of reversing the form with Twist Of Fate and One World. Place chance.
6 Mr Greenlight Is a winner of two of his four starts in Durban but will take a massive jump in class for this race and will need to prove he is good enough.
7 Vardy Interesting runner who is improving with every start and described by trainer Adam Marcus as still being “very dumb”. Is very highly rated by the stable and has good draw and could be the best outsider in the field. A very unlucky loser last time.
8 Russian Beat Stable companion to Chimichuri Run who looks far better in this field. Will need to show massive improvement if he is to feature in this race.
9 Nao Faz Mal Has improved with gelding but looks out of his depth in this class of field at this stage of his career.
10 Vikram Talented but not an easy ride as he tends to run around quite a lot. An unlikely winner but could place.
11 Sherwood Forest Looks well held by a number of runners in this field and looks unlikely to feature.
12 Silvano’s Pride This is a very good filly and must come into the reckoning. She ran a cracker in the G1 Cape Fillies Guineas when second behind unbeaten Front And Centre and is in with a massive winning chance. Needs to be included in all bets.
13 Skye Lane A two-time winner who has only raced in lowly company and does not look good enough to feature in this event.
