The Hong Kong Jockey Club bought four athletic colts out of the recent 2026 Bloodstock South Africa National Yearling Sale (16-17 April) in Johannesburg, South Africa, for ZAR7.3 million (approx. HK$3.32 million).

Lot 41 was the first secured by the Club for ZAR1.7 million. The bay is a son of reigning champion sire in South Africa, Vercingetorix, a Group 1 winner in Dubai, who also finished third behind Designs On Rome and Military Attack in the 2014 G1 QEII Cup (2000m) at Sha Tin. The youngster’s dam, Granja, has foaled three individual winners from three runners.

Lot 89 is the son of another former champion sire in South Africa, Gimmethegreenlight, who was purchased for ZAR600,000. Group 1 heroes Got The Greenlight, Yulong Prince, Gimme A Prince, She’s A Keeper and Gimme A Nother are among his sire’s leading progeny.

Lot 299 is the second colt by Gimmethegreenlight heading to Hong Kong for ZAR1.6 million. The colt’s dam, American Princess, is a full-sister to Group 1 winner Sentbydestiny, who has close ties to acclaimed Group 1-winning mare Double Grand Slam.

Bought for ZAR3.4 million, Lot 297 is by former star sprinter Rafeef, sire of Group 1 winners Thunderstruck, William Robertson and Aragosta. The bay colt’s dam, All Of Me, won 13 times throughout her racing career.
