Giovanni had easy work (jogged and hacked) in the trotting ring for 30-40 minutes in the quarantine stable.  

Trainer Haruki Sugiyama said: “He dropped some weight during the transportation to Sha Tin, so we will focus first on helping him recover. He is eating well and everything has gone smoothly so far.”

June Take

June Take exercised in the trotting ring prior to jogging for a half-lap and hacking for one and a half laps on the all-weather. The horse then got familiar with the parade ring at Sha Tin.

The assistant to Hidenori Take, Kaname Ogino, said: “He felt really good and was very composed, which was good.”

Masquerade Ball

Masquerade Ball warmed up in the trotting ring and explored the all-weather, jogging for a half-lap and hacking for one and a half laps, before walking around the parade ring.

The assistant to Takahisa Tezuka, Shinichi Okada, said: “More than anything, I am relieved that he came through it safely.”

Sosie

The five-year-old came out alone and looked relaxed on his return to Hong Kong, with the FWD QEII Cup set to be his first start since his win at Sha Tin in December. He came out slowly before building up to a slow canter on the all-weather.

Richard Lambert, travelling head lad, said: “He arrived yesterday (Sunday, 19 April) and travelled perfectly. He’s in good condition and he likes it here. He’s relaxed and happy; he’s a good character. He just did a trot and a slow gallop.”

FWD Champions Mile

Jantar Mantar
Jantar Mantar jogged for a half-lap and worked easily for one and a half laps on the all-weather track before he walked in the parade ring.

The assistant to Tomokazu Takano, Takashi Matsui, said: “He felt really good, was very active and fresh.”

Strauss

Strauss exercised in the trotting ring before walking around the parade ring and saddling area.

The assistant to Ryo Takei, Yudai Seto, said: “With other horses around, he was relatively calm and is in good form.”

Chairman’s Sprint Prize

Satono Reve

Satono Reve stayed in Sha Tin’s quarantine stable after exercising in the trotting ring.  

The assistant to Noriyuki Hori, Ryusuke Saito, said: “He is very relaxed. As it’s much hotter and more humid here than in Japan, we’ll be careful not to overwork him and will adjust his training accordingly.”
