G3 – 1200m – Turf

1

Barber

Slow to begin last start in G2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) when beaten 2.04L. Has good enough form to be a leading contender in an open race.

2

Maharba

Already a Listed winner of the Talindert Stakes (1100m) in February and has been G3 placed. Won his most recent start here at 1200m when he fought back strongly to win by 0.75L. Hard to beat.

3

Archo Nacho

Had excellent form leading into the G2 Danehill Stakes (1100m) but raced keenly in the early stages and the jockey reported the gelding also raced flat. Was beaten 2.65L but can bounce back.

4

Critique

Front-runner who faces a big increase in quality of opposition. Moonee Valley will suit the colt’s style of racing and he’ll have some admirers.

5

Snippety Legend

Won on debut and then ran second at next two. Has been fancied at all three runs and can be competitive in this against the more fancied runners.

6

Loose On Gin

Easy winner last start with country win, scoring by 3.75L in 1100m Hamilton maiden. Had previously run two seconds and while this is a lot tougher, he creates a bit of interest.

7

Le Parrain

Withdrawn

8

Lordster

Form has been reasonable and was well fancied last start after progressing from a 1200m maiden victory on a heavy track. Will need to have improved significantly to be competitive.

9

Don’t Hope Do

Comes into the race after winning a 1000m maiden on debut at Bendigo this month. Won by 0.2L and would need rapid improvement to figure here.

10

Schwarz

Was extremely well supported when the colt made a winning debut by 3.37L over 1200m at Gosford. Cost  AU$1.25 million as yearling. Must be respected at his second start.

11

Revalene

Was a good trial winner and found one better on debut over 1000m at Cranbourne on debut. Boxed on well and the dam does produce winners. Worth some thought.
