G1 – 1200m – Turf

1

Art Power

One of the favourites for this prize last year but outpaced in the closing stages, finishing fourth in it in the two previous years. It would be a surprise if he finishes much closer this time.

2

Kinross

Labelled a 1400m specialist for his tremendous record at that trip, but in this 1200m dash last year he proved easily too quick for 17 rivals so deserves maximum respect again. Handles all ground.

3

Rohaan

Loves this track and slow ground, often surging from an impossible-looking position to land the money, as he did again on his latest start. Yet to win a G1 but fourth in this last year.

4

Run To Freedom

A six-times winner with most of his success over this trip and, two starts back, he finished second in a G1 at Newmarket. Also, second, at huge odds in this prize last year so can’t be dismissed.

5

Saint Lawrence

Looks to have a difficult task on ratings. However, he did swoop late to beat 26 rivals in a fast-ground handicap here at Royal Ascot, also coming quite close to a shock G1 victory at Deauville in August.

6

Spycatcher

Has improved also becoming more consistent since being gelded earlier this year. A G3 winner at Deauville in July, almost plundering a G1 there in August. Slow ground is essential.

7

Mill Stream

Twice an easy winner on soft ground and over this trip at Deauville in August, latterly in G3 company. Not beaten far on his debut in G1 company, at Haydock last month.

8

Makarova

Has only won at up to Listed level but not beaten far in G1 sprints at York and Longchamp on her last two starts. Very soft ground could count against her at this level.

9

Sandrine

A G3 winner on heavy ground over this course and distance on just her second career start. Has run really well on her last two outings, latterly with a G2 victory at Doncaster. She’s courageous.

10

Sense Of Duty

Increasingly revealed her class last season, latterly with a power-paced finish to surge clear of her rivals in a G3 at Newcastle. Rusty after a 455-day absence and should be sharper for a Newbury run.

11

Vadream

A G3 soft-ground winner over this course and distance in 2021. Didn’t have a great trip when a close fifth in the same race on her latest start.  The ground is likely to be slower this time, a help.

12

Believing

Returned from a break to deliver two career-best efforts on her last two starts, winning at Pontefract and then a close third in a G1 at Haydock. Quicker from the gates than she used to be, a big help.

13

Magical Sunset

Her personal best came when surging late to win a soft-ground 1400m G3 at Goodwood in August. She ran poorly on her latest start and has changed stables since.

14

Ocean Quest

This Irish-trained filly has prospects if showing the same zip as when winning a G3 over a similar trip at Naas in August, leading for much of the trip and easily beating a subsequent winner.

15

Swingalong

Her three career wins have all come at this trip, but there is a major worry that very soft ground would count against her. The ground was good when she led throughout to win a G3 at York.
