26/02/2023 10:53

The Hong Kong Jockey Club will simulcast for betting the New Zealand Derby and Dubai Super Saturday races on Saturday, 4 March.

New Zealand Derby (Sat, 4 March – 11.47am Hong Kong time)
The G1 New Zealand Derby (2400m) has over 160 years of history and is the premier race for New Zealand’s three-year-old generation. The 2023 edition will take place at the anti-clockwise Te Rapa Racecourse, while its traditional home Ellerslie undergoes a track reconstruction.

Dubai Super Saturday (Sat, 4 March – first race 20.05pm Hong Kong time)
Later in the evening, eight races from the Super Saturday meeting held at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai will be simulcast for betting. Saturday night’s programme features important lead-up races to the glamorous Dubai World Cup meeting held on Saturday, 25 March. The night’s main events are the G1 Al Maktoum Challenge R3 (2000m, dirt), the G1 Jebel Hatta (1800m, turf) and the G2 Dubai City Of Gold (2410m, turf). These races are seen respectively as stepping stones for the G1 Dubai World Cup, the G1 Dubai Turf and the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic, which are contested over the same distances at the course in three weeks’ time.

Hong Kong is expected to be represented by Russian Emperor and Senor Toba in Dubai, the former became our latest overseas winner when landing Qatar’s richest race, the US$2.5 million (approx. HK$19.6 million) QAT G1 H.H. The Amir Trophy (2400m).
