G3 – 3000m – Turf
1 |
Subjectivist |
This powerful stayer is the class act in this field, winning two G1’s and a G2 on his last three starts. Injury has kept him absent since his Royal Ascot success in 2021. If near his best he’ll be hard to beat. |
2 |
Trawlerman |
Has a great mentality as he showed when winning one of the UK’s top staying handicaps – at York – looking beaten before fighting back. Fast ground would be ideal. |
3 |
Enemy |
Kicking off 2023 with a surprise victory in a Meydan handicap, starting slowly but finishing strongest to produce probably a career-best effort. |
4 |
Al Qareem |
Progressive last season as he stepped up in trip, doing best when winning a 3000m G2 at Longchamp. Very soft ground that day but he can handle faster conditions. |
5 |
Big Call |
This French-trained gelding has won in both handicap and group company. Clearly stays this trip as he showed when going clear close home in a 3100m G3 at Longchamp. An interesting contender. |
6 |
Get Shirty |
Bravely squeezed through a gap to win a Royal Ascot handicap last June. Sure to be fit with two Meydan runs this year, a good second most recently. |
7 |
Silver Sonic |
A very effective stayer in Japan with some strong form in group company including a G2 success over 3600m last December. One to consider seriously. |
8 |
Sisfahan |
Swooped late to win the G1 German Derby in 2021 and has since won a G2 in Italy. His pedigree gives him chances over this longer trip and he looks versatile groundwise. |
9 |
My Frankel |
Quite smart when UK trained but put in the occasional poor performance. Finished a close third in a shorter handicap at this meeting last year. Stamina concerns for this trip. |
10 |
Nate The Great |
Stays this trip and further, returning to form in style when winning a 3200m Listed event at Newmarket. Has sometimes looked to need his return from an absence, a slight concern here. |
11 |
Echt |
Won a very competitive G3 in Japan last July and has posted some other strong efforts in group company. However the rise in trip is a worry, his pedigree suggesting speed. |
12 |
Master Gatsby |
Now trained locally he had some strong French form last season, proving that he stayed this trip with a fast finishing G3 victory at Longchamp. |

Pin Your Hopes |
Had a low winning strike-rate when Irish-trained, and also yet to win on a turf surface. Very hard to fancy. |
