Career-best race at this track in May. Way below par in two runs since, latest over this trip in Hoppegarten. Low strike-rate at Group level and likely to have to settle for a minor role.

Ardakan

Winner of the Italian Derby this season and midfield finish in the German version. Very good third in a G1 at Hoppegarten latest and could easily reach the places here also.

Mendocino

Always held in high regard but this looks tough and yet to win at Group level. Ground likely to suit.

Sammarco

Won this year’s Deutsches Derby in a three-way-photo. Backed this up by G1 win over shorter in Munich. Relatively lightly raced and more to come, but needs to raise his game even considering his weight-for-age allowance with Torquator Tasso as a rival.

Torquator Tasso

The 2021 Arc winner sets the standard being clear on ratings. Excellent 2nd when underestimated in an Ascot G1 last time, and defending champion having won this race emphatically in 2021. Likely to be hard to beat.
