| Best Queen | Has failed to make top three in nearly 2 years despite different distances, surfaces. Hauling from Ritto. Likely not a contender. |
| Cool Water | Returning after 15 months off. Has gotten regular work and is looking fit. Best results have come over left-handed tracks, but has chance here. |
| Fidelio Green | Last out in late July finished third over Fukushima 1800m. Previous runs at Nakayama have brought poor results. Not promising. |
| Go Go Yutaka | Only 2 finishes out of money in 7 career starts. Back from layoff on 11 September, finished only 3L off winner over Nakayama 1800m. Well primed. |
| Kalandula | Recent starts brought 9-3-5, all over 1800m, with best results to the left. Good speed, versatile, but one gear. Needs strong pace. Coming off layoff, but has done well before. Promising. |
| Kern Kingdom | Unpredictable with only 10 finishes in top 3 from 32 starts. Still somewhat competitive this year. First time at Nakayama, first start in 3 months. Longshot. |
| Mythologie | Has failed to win over last 15 starts but posted five finishes in top three. Was second over Nakayama 1800m on 11 September. Definitely worth a wager. |
| Pod Wein | Moving up in class after good performance over Sapporo 1800m in early September. Prior Nakayama results 5-8-5-6, all over 2000-2200m. Has ample chance. |
| Red Lammert | Consistent colt from Kunieda stable rising in class after second win, over Sapporo 1800m in late August. Finished out of top 3 only twice in 8 career starts. Has 7-2 at Nakayama over 2000m, but 1800m looks a better fit. Very promising. |
| Scenariste | Returned after 7 months for 4th over Fukushima 1800m in late July. Started well but hampered by shifty ground. Is 1-4-5 at Nakayama, all at 2000m. |
| Swear | Moved to turf and won over Nakayama 2000m at year end. 8-6-11 this year, all over 2000-2200m. Difficult temperament. Not promising. |
| Transylvania | Moving up in class after win over Fukushima 1800m in July. |
| Yamanin Galassia | Most of career over 1200-1400m with some success. Given a mile, then 1800m at Nakayama on 11 September. Finished close fourth. New possibilities may be on horizon. |
