G2 – 1200m – Turf

Al Karrar |
Quite an expensive purchase who started slowly but finished powerfully when winning a maiden at Windsor last month. Winners have come out of that race since. |
2 |
Bluelight Bay |
Improved from his first to his second start when landing a fast-ground novices’ event at Windsor last month, leading from the gate. That form has been boosted since. |
3 |
Chateau |
Having finished well into fourth in a 1000m Listed event at Royal Ascot, he then won a 1200m Listed event at Newbury, a very good effort especially as he met lots of trouble in the race. |
4 |
Crispy Cat |
Some issues about this trip as he faded out when fancied for a 1200m G2 last time, not helped by racing too freely. Some fine efforts at around 1000m previously including at Royal Ascot. |
5 |
Legend Of Xanadu |
Only poor run in his seven race career was when running out of gas after racing too keenly over 1400m at Royal Ascot. Should be happier back at this trip, third over it at Newbury this month. |
6 |
Marshman |
Had cost very little when first purchased, but he is clearly quick as, despite showing inexperience, he was a decisive 1200m maiden winner at Ayr this month. Jumps up in class. |
7 |
Royal Scotsman |
The fact that he has course and distance winning form here is a definite plus. Then ran a terrific third of 17 in a 1200m G2 at Royal Ascot, possibly finding himself in front too soon. |
8 |
Shine’s Ambition |
Trainer keen to give him plenty of experience. He’s shown plenty of promise when placed on all three starts but he looks more of a potential handicapper than a group horse. |
9 |
Swift Asset |
Justified favouritism when winning at Windsor but couldn’t improve on that at Newbury subsequently even if he wasn’t best positioned that day. Stable have a good record in this. |
