In assessing the latest progress of the International Sales Griffins (ISGs), the Club has decided that two horses by leading sires Mastercraftsman and Kodiac, respectively, will be sold by tender.
The tenders for the two three-year-olds – E496 (Mastercraftsman – Excellent Mariner) and E501 (Kodiac – Vee Gita) – will open on Monday, 8 November with applications closing at 12.00 noon on Monday, 22 November.
Kodiac was the leading sire for two-year-olds in 2018, with the Club securing E501 at €375,000 (approx. HK$3,216,000) at the 2019 Goffs Orby Yearling Sale. The bay gelding’s dam is Vee Gita who, while unraced, has produced five individual winners from six foals to date.
E496 is a son of Mastercraftsman with ties to Indigenous, Hong Kong’s legendary stayer, while his second dam, Castara Beach produced Pure Champion, a top-level placegetter in Hong Kong. The Irish-bred youngster was purchased for €140,000 (approx. HK$1,201,000) at the 2019 Goffs Orby Yearling Sale.
