On To Victory

Decent hurdler. Ran well returned to Flat last month, runner-up in Listed race over 2400m at Goodwood. Stays 3200m and a live contender.

Saldier

Good form in France at up to 2400m. Since won two G1 hurdles for Willie Mullins. Less successful this year but won small Flat race well over 2600m nine days ago. Respected.

Themaxwecan

Fourth in this race last year and has similar chance this time. Needs to find improvement.

Sextant

Mixing hurdling and Flat racing since leaving Sir Michael Stoute’s stable last year. Well behind On To Victory when finished last at Goodwood in May. An unlikely winner.

Brilliant Light

Raced creditably without winning at Meydan this year, including when third behind stablemates Volcanic Sky and Global Heat. Needs to improve.

Sleeping Lion

Returned to form when winning on first run after moving to Roger Charlton’s stable.  A 6-y-o, now runs off a career high handicap mark. A difficult challenge.

Dubious Affair

Improved last year but not seen since out of depth in G2 over 3200m at Ascot last October. Only an outside chance.

Throne Hall

Lightly raced 4-y-o. Third over 2400m at York last month. Has looked as if this first try at further may help. A decent chance.

Gold Maze

So far only won a maiden race from nine attempts. Well beaten in Listed race over 2400m at Ascot since joining Roger Varian. Step up in trip will need to make a big difference.

Cardano

Has improved. Not won over this far but good second over the distance at Musselburgh in April and has a fair chance.

Hochfeld

Experienced 7-y-o. This is his trip and suited by fast ground. Soft going when well beaten at Goodwood on latest run. Has a decent chance.

Global Storm

Stepped up to this trip when winning at Newmarket last month. Acts on range of ground conditions and with prospect of more improvement, is a realistic contender.

Hyanna

A fine servant. Never won over this far but appears to stay the distance. On a fair handicap mark but a 6-y-o facing some improving opponents.

Galata Bridge

Three time winner on all-weather tracks last year, resulting in steep climb in handicap rating. Encouraging runner-up for new stable 13 days ago. Has to show that as good on turf and can stay this far. Not ruled out.

Arthurian Fable

Close fifth in King George V Handicap over 2400m at Royal Ascot last year. Subsequently ran well at 2800m off higher handicap marks. Promising return last month behind Global Storm and Lostwithiel. A fair chance.

Amtiyaz

A good record. Stays 3200m, likely to be effective at shorter but only one of nine runs has been on turf. Question marks but not ruled out.

Sam Cooke

Some respectable efforts but overall record doesn’t prompt enthusiasm.

Rajinsky

Had some decent form without winning last summer. This Spring similar level of form over 3200m. An outside chance.

Taqareer

Needs to recapture form shown over 2000m when second to Throne Hall in March. Disappointing since over 2400m and not certain to appreciate the step up to 2800m.
