1200m – Turf
1 |
Via Salaria |
A winner of his only race at this track, has a light weight and a top jockey in Lyle Hewitson. Would prefer 200m further but from No 1 draw has to be a contender. |
2 |
Quick Star |
Has placed in four of six starts at this course but has not won over 1200m. Better over further but has place prospects. |
3 |
Mr Fitz |
This five-year-old gelding has won over 1200m on the Polytrack but his best runs on the turf have been over 1400m and upwards. Could run into a place. |
4 |
Love Bomb |
This three-year-old filly won a Grade 2 over 1400m at this track as a juvenile but has failed to reproduce that form. Tough task against the colts but could place at best. |
5 |
Good Rhythm |
Distance suited but four of his five wins have come on the Polytrack. Ultra-consistent though and has not finished out of the top four in his last 11 races. Chance. |
6 |
Waywood |
Another runner with better form on the Polytrack but has placed in two of his starts over course and distance. Might be a little outclassed but could place. |
7 |
Goliath Heron |
Very rarely far off the winner but has not won since October 2019. He has won a race over the course and distance and finished in the money in his last two starts. Place at best. |
8 |
Legitimate |
Has not raced since finishing unplaced in the Grade 1 Cape Derby in February. Clearly a warm-up run for something bigger but does have class and could run well fresh. |
9 |
Gainsford |
Speedy three-year-old who suffered serious interference in his last start. Improving with every run and with a top jockey and trainer in his corner, has to be a big runner. |
10 |
Ad Altisima |
Ideally distance suited and although he seems better on the Polytrack has placed on this course. Drawn a bit wide but must have a chance in this field. |
11 |
Kayson |
A decent three-year-old who loves this course and distance. Went off the boil but the booking of Champion Jockey Warren Kennedy could be significant. Big runner if back to best. |
12 |
Socrates |
Ran a cracker in the G2 Drill Hall Stakes last time over 1400m. Back to 1200m and down in class, he could be a contender if he can overcome a wide draw. |
13 |
Sunset Eyes |
Never got into the race from a wide draw in the G2 Drill Hall Stakes and will have the same problem this time, though will prefer the drop in class and distance. |
14 |
Hard To Play |
Has excellent form over this course and distance with three wins from six starts. Will have it all to do from widest draw and will need lots of luck. |
