Admission arrangements for race meetings

22/03/2020 21:28

In view of the substantial increase in confirmed cases in the past few days as well as the clear advice of medical experts that the next two weeks are exceedingly critical in combating the COVID-19 outbreak, the Hong Kong Jockey Club has decided to implement a further control of the number of attendees in the racecourses.

Regarding the upcoming race meeting on 25 March at the Happy Valley Racecourse (HVRC), apart from trainers, jockeys, Club officials and Stewards with governance duties, only horse owners with starters will be admitted. Customers who have travelled overseas within 14 days before the race day will be not admitted. Customers are required to fill in a health declaration form <download here www.hkjc.com/hd> and receive temperature screening before entry. They are also required to wear medical masks during the race meeting.

Subsequently, only Owners Box on 2/F and 3/F in the HVRC will be open. However, we will ensure adequate social distancing for customers. There will be no cross betting available at the Sha Tin Racecourse and the Sha Tin Clubhouse on that night.

The same admission arrangements will be applicable to other race meetings in the next two weeks.

In addition, the Club has decided that stable visits by Owners will be suspended with immediate effect until further notice. Owners can only watch barrier trials from the Grandstand or Weighing Room.

We would like to ask for the understanding of our customers for these arrangements in short notice, which are being introduced to respond to the fast changing COVID-19 situation in the community and to protect the health of both customers and employees. We apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused.
