G3 – 1600m – Dirt
1 |
Ambassadorial |
Well-travelled he would have a big chance here if repeating his Meydan debut run over this trip, only just caught by a subsequent easy winner here in January. |
2 |
Secret Ambition |
Didn’t make a big impact in this race last year but has been in smart form lately. He won here in December, was just beaten in a G2 in January, and did well considering everything went wrong for him last time. |
3 |
Blitzkrieg |
Perhaps surprising that this US invader is switching to dirt considering he didn’t run well on it in one US attempt and has been running well on turf here lately. He also rises in trip compared to recent starts. |
4 |
Kimbear |
Fought back bravely to beat today’s rival Secret Ambition in this two years ago. He also just beat Secret Ambition in a G2 here in January. May have excuses for a dismal run here last month. |
5 |
Heavy Metal |
Fourth in this two years ago but then smashed his rivals from the front in a G2 on Dubai World Cup night. This well-known Meydan galloper was miles below his best in his sole run this year. |
6 |
Team Decision |
His three wins in the UK, and his two UAE runs this year have all been over further. A solid second at Jebel Ali last time, but ratings don’t suggest a big chance. |
7 |
Salute The Soldier |
Has winning all-weather form earlier in his career, and now switches to the Meydan dirt. Two excellent turf efforts at Meydan lately, leading most of the way in a G2 last time, finishing a very close fourth. |
8 |
Taamol |
Has won just one of his 14 starts at Meydan, but he did run well on turf here last time having won at Abu Dhabi the time before. Adaptable but a few rivals appear to have stronger claims. |
9 |
All Out Blitz |
Quite useful when trained in the USA, and has run two fair races since moving to Dubai. Some further progress seems likely as he adapts to local conditions. |
10 |
Axelrod |
Has twice won G3 dirt races over 1700m in the USA. Off the track since Meydan last year where didn’t look like winning but was only 8.25L behind the winner in the G1 Dubai World Cup. |
11 |
Moqarrar |
In warm form lately, winning over this course and distance on his last two starts. He came from gate 1 and had a ground saving trip most recently. A different story from a wide gate here. |
12 |
Prodigal Son |
US-trained, he ran second to an improved horse from a wide gate in a decent 1200m handicap here last month. Can handle this longer trip but has the widest gate to handle. |
