G3 – 1200m – Turf

1

Semoum

Three times a winner in the UK. Tried on dirt on his Meydan debut but it was an experiment that didn’t work and back on turf now. This looks difficult.

2

Torosay

Showed plenty of pace in a light US campaign including one win. A promising runner-up in a 1000m handicap on his Meydan debut and the winner has boosted the form with a G2 victory since.

3

Wildman Jack

Won two of his five starts in the US, showing plenty of gate speed. An encouraging Meydan debut when up to 1400m, a close up fourth of ten in a good handicap.

4

Laieth

It will be surprising if he has enough pure speed for this, his three UK wins all coming over further. Came close to winning one of his five Meydan 2020 starts.

5

Drummore

Won two minor events when trained in France, but has been soundly beaten on all UAE starts. Impossible to fancy.

6

Space Blues

A strong travelling classy colt who has chances despite it being his first start since last August, and the shortest trip he has raced over. Placed in Deauville G1’s on his last two starts, excellent efforts.

7

Tribal Quest

A small speedy gelding who won over this trip twice in the UK. Beaten a long way when tried on the dirt for his Meydan debut but the saddle slipped and that run is best ignored.

8

Land Of Legends

Has a consistent profile and gained three straight wins in the UK last year, though all over further than this. Two good placed efforts over 1600m at Meydan this year. The trip is the worry on this speed track.

9

Yaalail

Won an Abu Dhabi handicap last December and hasn’t been beaten far in any of his five starts over various distances since. Could run well again here, but a win would be a shock.

10

Rusumaat

Has had his problems and has three long absences during his career. However all seems well now and it looked like a career best when he outspeeded his rivals in a Listed handicap over this course and distance last month.

11

Ekhtiyaar

Second in this last year and though a shade disappointing on his latest start his victory under a big weight in a handicap here in January confirmed that he remains a classy operator.

12

Mazzini

Ran on well in the closing stages to finish third in this last year. He’s only competed twice since and those modest performances don’t make him very fanciable here.

13

Major Partnership

More familiar over further but did win over this distance back in 2018. He ran a close third off a difficult handicap mark in a strong 1600m handicap last time.

14

Angel Alexander

Won four sprint handicaps in the UK in 2019. Hasn’t hit that level in two Meydan starts this year so he will need to upgrade this time. Best on good or slow ground.

15

Wasim

Has won over 1400m here, but is without any win for almost two years and no evidence to suggest he can beat many higher rated rivals here.

16

Thammin

A smart sprinter though his only win on a turf surface came at a much lower grade than this. Second of nine over 1000m on the Jebal Ali dirt last time.

Reserves

17

Neverland Rock

Was nearest at the finish when fourth in a 1000m handicap here last month, though was getting weight from most of his rivals. Not much chance.

18

Raafid

Did beat 13 rivals in a low grade handicap over this course and distance about a year ago.  However recent starts suggest he has no realistic hope in this.
